Default Motul RBF600 brake fluid degradation?!

I'm changing my brake fluid from stock fluid to Motul RBF600 (for my upcoming track day). I was telling my friend that I'm changing the fluid and he started cautioning me not to go with anything other than the stock brake fluid.
His argument is that anything other than stock fluid will degrade your seals. I told him that I've done my research (from this site) and I'm basing my opinion based on experienced people who race their C5Z06s.

Can anybody give me insight so that I can explain it to my buddy and have a better feeling about upgrading to Motul RBF600. He's actually got me second guessing the brake fluid change.

Thanks guys.

Jameel:

The Motul is fine as it's a DOT 4. I bet your pal thinks it's a silicone DOT 5 which rumor has some seal issues. The Motul is just fine.

A very prestigious Corvette shop in my area just recommended the Motul 600 for my C5. I trust their judgement. I have it in my car and so far so good.

I've used Motul RBF 600 for a few years and haven't had any problems.

Just finished off my second case of RBF600, I hope it is good I have had no fluid related issues with this stuff. Find a motorcycle shop and buy it by the case, you save about $4/bottle.

He's thinking of the silicone based fluid, which would be a problem.

Motul RBF, Castrol SRF, they're fine.

any DOT3 or DOT4 will be fine for any car that requires DOT3/4 fluid. 100% compatible.

if you really want to mess with him, dump anything you have left in the clutch.

And how much tracking does your friend do? I would bet he has no mods on his vette either

and I would not be surprised he has an extended warranty as well.

in other words, dont listen to ppl who dont track there cars.

Go for the fluid change, you need good DOT 4 brake fluid.

I've been using Motul for brakes and clutch for a long time now. no issues. And the motul lasts 2 whole events for the clutch.

Same results !!!

Started with a new 01 Z06, then an 04 Z06, currently an 07 Z06.

I have over ~ 130,000 miles using Motul RBF 600 brake fuild, many track miles included.

Motul is the good stuff. I'm actually going to bite the bullet & try some Castrol so I can use it in my clutch hydralics since I think my slave cylinder is on its way out. Castrol in the brakes might allow me to do less fluid changes between events (I'll still bleed the calipers).

I believe that you can even go beyond DOT 4 , I think Motul has 5.1 or 5.2 fluid which is not silicone based and does OK with the seals (and has even a higher boiling point). Its the silicone stuff which can be harmful. I've had a similar discussion on the forum and with GM last year and came to the same place.
