Default T1 Bar settings

I have recently install T1 bars in my C5 I set the rear bar to the center hole. I now have a little over steer. Should it be moved to the inside hole or outside to correct this. Am I correct in thinking the outside hole is the softer setting.
Thanks

anybody have an adjustable T1 rear bar off that could measure the distances from the end link holes? I'm curious to see what the measurements are from wide to wide, center to center, and inside to inside (from center of hole to center of hole).

moving furthest from the torsion bar increases the cars leverage against the bar, effectively making the bar softer. I think it's great they made the T1 bars adjustable, they never were back when I ran them

yeah I've got an older set that isn't. that's why I was curious to see what the hole measurements are, to compare to what the old style rear works out to be. (I'm assuming the dia and thickness of the bar stayed the same)

I'll try to remember to get those numbers for you tomorrow.

Default T1 Bar Settings

I just changed from the old rear bar to the adjustable. The hole in the old bar is equal to the middle hole of the new bar. Makes sense, so you can adjust both directions of stiffness.

So the longer the bar (hole to hole) is the same as running a softer/thinner bar

&

shorter the bar (hole to hole) is the same as running a stiffer/thicker bar

Sorry if this is noobish, but I want to be clear.

I measured on top of the bar center to center outside hole 43.5 center hole 42.25 inside hole 41.

You beat me to it by a couple of hours. Thanks for the info.

So for a recap:
Outer most holes = tighter / more oversteer
Inner most hole = softer / less oversteer

Right?

Nope. The longer the lever arm, the "softer" the bar is. The shorter the lever arm, the "stiffer" the bar is. As for over/understeer, it all depends which end of the car you're adjusting...

Well crips,

We got a whole bunch of us "senior forum members" and the adjustment of a sway bar is still not clear.

How about it guys? Which way?

Plug in some numbers and see. The longer arms give the suspension more leverage against the bar. Shorter lever arm, less leverage, bar gets stiffer. Longer arm, more leverage, bar gets softer. You had it right in comment #10.

Moving the link to the outside hole will cause the bar to get softer. Which should help the OP's oversteering problems.
