Default LG #28 catches fire at Long Beach...

Sadly I just watch LG's #28 (Boris) Corvette catch fire on TV at the Long Beach.

It looks like he is OK, but sad news for LG in the race. Best wishes and quick recovery to Boris.

Bet that in-car video is scary!

Guess broadcast was tape delayed...

Just saw that too, looked nasty at first for Boris, but it looks like he's ok.

What a scary moment - hope Boris is ok. Wonder if it was due to the earlier contact with the BMW, like the announcers speculated.

from that picture I think that is a big hope but we will cling to it!

Big loss for a team on a budget sadly!

BTW, this event hasn't been televised here in the SF Bay Area yet. Our ABC channel is showing it at 2:30 local time which is still 3 hours away, so this was very much a spoiler...

Good thing Boris is OK ... did you guys notice that he was wearing a Compuwear Corvette Racing Fire Suit? Must have borrowed one of Gavin's race suits for the race!

... or was it Ron's?

Nope ... no Maple Leaf Flag ... and it looks like "GAVIN" ... Pictures courteous of "89 Paul in Cal"

Hi guys.

boris was wearing his own suit from when he and Dale Jr drove together at Infineon-----where Dale Jr crashed and CAUGHT ON FIRE.

I guess the suit was jealous and felt left out.

The cause of the fire was from the hit with the BMW that bent the exhaust pipe and directed the hot exhaust toward the carbon fiber rocker panel and started it on fire. That only got bigger and it burned a high pressure fuel line that burst and caused what you all saw.

Boris is burned on his arms and eyes. Time will heal them but he will have a few weeks in pain and I am sorry for that.

Luckily he ran the car into the run off area where corner workers were standing right there and they stopped the fire quickly which limited the damage but it is still severe and probably out of reach for us in the near future to repair.

We could use a "Bailout"

Thanks

LG
