Acceptable Noise levels at the track
I was at a event on Saturday at Lime Rock and I was almost kicked out because they said I was at a 94db level. I am running the LG headers cat and cross over pipe with Corsa pace car mufflers. The limit is now 89db. I was wondering if any one is running a similar system with a different muffler that would make the new restriction.
Also if the member with the blue vette is out their PM me. I have a clip of your friends car.

That's pretty low for a sound limit at a track event. I know our local autoX events have a 96db limit and I was always right at it with my old Z06 with just a Borla Stinger catback on it.
There's no way any of the T1 cars could come close to that limit.

Wow, I can't believe a track would be that low. Washington State allows a 95 db level on the street. (Maybe they're using different measurement techniques so its not comparable.) I would think you'd have to have stock mufflers with your headers to meet that level.

89 is pretty tough to hit for sure. I once took a stock 01 Z28 to Laguna and it failed sound. The car was brand new - it didn't even have metal license plates yet and was absolutely unmodified.. It was a cold day and that makes for higher numbers with the air density being greater. 89 will be tough to reach as tire noise, lifter noise, diff noise and other mechanical sounds besides exhaust all contribute. Sound restrictions are pretty ridiculous at race tracks but they seem to be everywhere these days. I took a 427 FE side piped Cobra around Laguna to see how it would do and it blasted 122 db.. I didn't take a second lap
You need to put a turn down on the exhaust pointing away from the microphone if you can
make sure you are not listening to your radio either...

This is the tracks requirement not the club running the event. I know if it’s cold enough for the area houses to have the windows shut they allow it. I ran the week before and they allowed open pipes. Just bring a backup plan.

Wow, I'm surprised you had trouble.. with the rear pipe exit on the vettes it usually helps (normally the sound check is on the inside of the downhill corner). You may want to go back to the stock z06 exhaust just to quiet it down. If you don't have your and need a stock non-z set, I have one around you can have for free. -Dan

Thanks for the offer, I still have the stock mufflers unfortunately it’s not a Z06 it was built 2 weeks before they started production. I think I am going to try adding a inline bullet muffler and making some turned pipes as Tintin mentioned. They were testing on the front straight that’s why I had to start down shifting after the turn.

Ah, I was wondering what you were doing downshifting coming out of big bend! Nice in car video though, I need to pick your brain one of these days on that setup. -Dan

Turn downs may work - turn them down and away from the sound meter

The limit is really 85 but they let you run up to 89. I was black flagged one year after going there for about 4 years with the same system. I put a soda can over one exhaust and it worked. Didn't kill power much either.
I run SuperTrapps and swap then from no end plates to spaced end plates and it works for there. Doubt I would go back with the half day crap now, I may just for memories.

I did some testing today I first setup a sound meter 10’ behind the car with the Corsa Pacecar mufflers and it hit 108db at 6000RPM.
The second test was with some bullet mufflers added it hit 106db
I then took the Corsa and bullet mufflers off and installed the stock 2000 mufflers. It hit 104db.
