Koni Challenge Take-offs for HPDE
Have any of you run the Hoosier Koni Challenge take of dry tires on a C5 or C6?

At $100 a piece they look to keep me in front tires as they seem to wear at least 2Xs as fast as the backs.

I used to run them...but it's been several years. They are (or were) harder than the standard racing tires, but still really good. $100 is more than I would pay for a used tire, but it's still a bargain compared to new. I usually pay $75 or so for good used race tires

They're the Grand Am Cup tires?
I have a set in 275/40R17 on the GTO. I was previously on 245/40R18
Nitto nt-01's. The GAC tires take a loooooooooooooong time to heat
up. They're scary horrid for the first couple of laps. After that they're close
to being as quick as the NT-01's but not quite as quick. I mostly noticed the
increased braking distances.
I'm hoping that as the weather warms up a bit, they will become a bit better.
But for $70/tire (from http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html...&subcat_id=181)
while the main limitation is driver ability, they're a great idea. I expect they'll
last quite a long time, too.

Melting Slicks
I have run the GrandAm cup tires before and they were pretty good. The 275/35 are an oddball size and a bit on the skinny side(at least you won't have any clearance issues.) I paid $60 a piece(275/40-17's) for them, $100 does seem overpriced.
