Default Riley Technologies "Track Day Car"

Chassis #001 was unveiled at Virginia International Raceway this weekend, during the Grand Am Rolex Series 'Bosch 250'.

I need to resize the pix, so rather than post huge pictures, I'll just give you the link to them:

Engine is an LSx, Emco 6-speed sequential gearbox, double wishbone front suspension up front, and 5-link suspension in the rear, plus this one has 2 seats too.

Motor is a 600 HP LS3 built by CRD (one of the DP engine builders), but the car can take many different engines. One interesting thing about it is that the car uses the axles and bearings from the C6 ZR1. Not counting the EMCO diff, rear axle flange to flange replacement cost is $1k. A whole lot better than the $15k/side Pankls that the DPs run.

Body is fiberglass instead of carbon (only adds 100 lbs, but LOTS of $$ savings), Motec ECU, Michelin slicks, etc, etc.

Looks like it'll be slow

I really think this is a cool car - sort of liking having your very own Daytona Prototype!

Yeah, but at significantly less cost (the one at VIR was $210k as it sat with motor, as opposed to ~$450k for a DP rolling chassis WITHOUT electronics or engine.

Also, because there is no rules set to worry about, the car has more downforce, better tires and more reliable engine options than a DP. Also, the DPs have mechanical throttles and therefore don't have (and aren't allowed to run) ECU-controlled throttle blips on downshifts with the sequential gearbox. The display car used the DBW TB from the LS3, and was configured for ECU-controlled throttle blipping. Makes driving the sequential gearbox car that much easier.

I really like that car, and Bill Riley is one heck of a good engineer. If I had $$ to burn and wanted a dedicated track car, I'd buy one no question.

BTW, race weight was 2300# with the fiberglass body and the extra seat.

Very cool car Dave! Of course, I am kind of partial to cars that are styled in that general manner.

It REALLY needs a standard DP exhaust. Sounds so much more manly than the crossover on there now....

EDIT: On second thought, we need more incar..... you cant hear it enough....

If I had a spare half-million laying around I'd be all over this.
