Default 1st timer at road racing - Tire Question

I am think about running my stock 99 Hardtop at some track days and was think about buying a set of tires just for running at the track and driving street tires to the track. Suggestion please that will brake my wallet.

Thanks

Start out on street tires.

I didnt want to wear out my runflats. I guess I am looking for a cheeper set of decent tires for road racing. I guess I am not really looking for true racing tires. Just something that I can change out once I get to the track or drive to the track that would give me good performance and be cheeper than my runflats. Or am I asking a dumb question? I dont know which way would be better.

Plus trying to find track days in central KY area is difficult. I would rather do road courses over autocross. 200 mile drive is about as far as I might like to drive for a weekend trip. You can figure that from Bowling Green, KY.

Thanks for the help.
JW

buy a set of C5 Z06 wheels (used) that have F1 Sc's on them. as long as they aren't old as dirt, they'll do pretty good

C5Z wheels are pretty cheap used, and are very, very light. great for the track

Agree on the Z06 rims and a set of street tires.
You can drive on them to the track
Current thread related - kumho XS and Nittos NT05 may be candidate tires.
Bluegrass is your best bet - new track ... Tiretown is running a school there later this month, but it may be booked.
See who's scheduling there and when.

do your first event on your street tires and wheels.

Just change the brake fluid and check your brake pad thickness.
