HSR at Road Atlanta 68 Vette Rain Race Video
The link below is to an in car video shot during the 1st feature race at last weekends Walter Mitty Challenge in a 68 Corvette. The first two laps are run behind the pace car while HSR watched to see if the rain would remain light or start pouring. When the bottom does fall out it gets a little interesting. We ended up first and second in the International Challenge race and first and third in the Mitty Feature race. I was driving a 68 while my father was driving the first GM licensed Grand Sport ever built. The first time it ran under it's own power was up to the false grid for practice so I think we did pretty well considering.

Thanks guys. It does have solid bushings and Moog ball joints in the control arms and ply bushings in the trailing arms. The strut rods have rod ends which only last one weekend. The brakes are stock j-56 calipers with titanium hats on the aluminum pistons. We run KFP pads.

That was pretty wild when the skys opened up. I felt for you guys with open tops and race tires. I was at the Kumho semi by the back skidpad watching and saw your dad come by spinning off into the grass.
Thank god nobody got into each other. Cars were looking & sounding great.

WOW!
That's some real serious speed down the backstretch!
What's a GM licensed Grand Sport?

The next step? I really don't know. I am hoping I just catch a break someday.
Aaron, You were in the right place! I was told several cars went into the wall out of 7. Did you see any of that?
We used to build Duntov Lightweights which were similar in many ways to the Grand Sport. We didnt want to call it a Grand Sport in fear of GM. However, General Motors has now given us an exclusive license to build these cars. We had to make a few modifications to make it more original but they are done and the car my dad ran is the first one. I am uploading pictures right now and will post a link shortly.

Gorgeous cars!
That's Penske GS is a knockout! I'd be scared to death to put that on track.

very nice! reminds me of watching my dad run his '66 big block: pass everyone and their mothers on the straights and then fight em off in the corners! what sucks the most is the tiny tires you have to run..well, i think 68 has wider fenders then 66, so maybe you don't have that problem as much?

Great driving & pictures, of coarse my favorite one is the blue GS car but I wouldn't kick the 68 to the curb either. I wanted to stop say hi & check them out but the ride & drive kept me busy all day. Congrats on the new deal and wish you the best.
If you guys ever head up to Mid-Ohio for a race, let me know and I would be glad to crew for you.

Safety Car
Cool, that car was hitting the high 160's and he was letting off before T9, I am not sure if he was in top gear? I bet that car could get in the 180s with the right gearing. Good driving, Tim

Our race schedule depends on our customer's but if we make it to Mid Ohio this year I will let you know.
I am sure this car will go well over 200 at Daytona with the right gear.

Rd. Atlanta video
Thanks so much for sharing the video with us. Sorry you didn't get to have a full race in the dry.
That brought back some fond memories of crewing a couple of C-3s in SCCA and IMSA back in the 70's and my NCCC Group III RP.
Now I have to pull out my VCR of the Swiss Chalet' Vette running the Trans AM!
