Can I safely mount a 315 Hoosier tire on the stock 10 inch rear wheels. As well how wide of a Hoosier tire can I mount on the stock 8.5 wheeel up front.

Yes and 295, but you might need extra camber for the tire to not rub

The guys runnin Solsti (plural for Soltice?) are running 295's very successfully on the front on 8.5 inch rims and they are having no problems with it. The guys running RX8's were trying the 255's (on 8" rims) at the El Toro Pro solo and had big problems with cording the outside edge do to not having enough negative camber. The RX8 is camber challenged, but they were doing fine with the bigger tires previously and the 255 seems to have a big problem if you don't get enough camber into it. The RX8 weighs at least 3060 lbs, close to a vette, and some folks are running 295's on a 3400 pound Mustangs with 8.5 inch wheels and getting 90 autocross runs out of them..

Go with the 295's if for no other reason that they work on a smiliar rim on the Solstice and it is almost as heavy as a Vette. I fear that if you went with a 255 you are just getting too small for what the car needs. While the 255 is a better match for the skinny rim, the 295 is proven to work just fine on an 8.5 inch rim even tho it sounds like it is too skinny... Sometimes things work even if they aren't supposed to. It all depends on the construction of that particular tire (and that vaires between each size even tho they are all A6's).

Were I in your position I'd run 295's up front and 315's in the back. In this case let the others be the guinnea pig and pay for it, go with what is proven to work.....

I'm running either 285 or 295 Hoosier A6's on front stock C6 wheels for autocross, along with 315's on stock 10" rears. They work just as described - lots of grip and are actually pretty easy to mount, from what my installer tells me. (Hoosiers are easier to mount then Kumhos...)

Running about -2.0 camber front, -1.2 rear. Car was lowered slightly and corner-balanced during alignment. NO rubbing issues.

Here are fitment pics of my 285/315 combo ...

I am running the R6's which shouldn't matter. My concern was I do some track days and do not want to have a problem. Mechanical failure at these events usually ends up being ugly. I appreciate everyones advice.
