Default Have you run a Ginger Man Raceway?

I am running the Motor State Challenge on June 19TH-21ST. I was hoping to get some incite on the track. What gear do you use where? Land markers for turn in , apex , and track out. In general anything that might be helpfully for my first event at this track. I normally run in the advanced groups. Thanks for the help. Randy

I did my first Gingerman, 2nd HPDE overall, event two weekends ago and it was very fun. Probably because we got a TON of track time. However, it took me sometime to figure the track out. There isn't really anything around the track you could use as markers. One thing that I remember is I went to the left side of the track between turn 7 and 8, and turned in where there is a rectangle of rough pavement. Also, I ignore turn 5 apex to set myself better for turn 6. Keep in mind I'm a noob, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

Here is a video of two laps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TH-pDTW2ho&fmt=18

Edit: Also, here is a good write up for every turn: http://www.trackpedia.com/wiki/Turn_..._Raceway_track

It's a fun track. I used to go there two or three times a month when I lived a few hours south of there. You'll enjoy it.

I have run it with a C5Z (stock 3.42 rear) w/ stock HP. It's pretty much a 3rd gear track, with a couple of spots you'll get to 4th briefly right before the next brake zone.

I'm not sure what your set up is but when I run my C5Z06 there, I get trans overtemp warnings in the afternoon. I run Redline fluids in the trans and diff and know some people with similar cars who don't have these issues. I do. Every time I go there. I don't have any issues at Grattan. I'll be putting coolers in soon.

So if it has been awhile since you've changed your fluids, you might want to consider doing it before heading over there. At least you can have fresh fluids.

I ran a '69 427 5 speed and an '84 turbo 6 speed, and pretty much used just 3rd and 4th. I did have to do a bunch of tweaks to try to keep the brakes from cooking.
All in all it's a safe track. Not very many places to do something stupid and hit something hard.

You can easily run the whole thing in 3rd gear with a C5 Z.

Thanks for the help. Good point on the trans fluid. We only run 3rd for a short time at LRP. Mostly 4th. I will change my fluid before I go.
Thanks again Randy. PS If some one knows how I can add the (t) to my title let me know.
