Default Help finding a C5 Racing Rearend Vendor

Any of you guys have a lead for a good remanufacturer of a heavy duty C5 Z 06 rear end? Need this for a NASA track car. A streetable car, but mostly for Time Trials.

Anyone have any experience on the track with 370 gears in a road racing application? Need a little help out of slow corners. I'm running in TTS and the LS 6 needs a little help to over take a C6 LS 3 in the first 100 feet out of a corner. Seems the cars are equal except for doing the pass in a slow corner. I can make the pass happen, but the LS 3 will pull away just enough out of the hole so I cannot to complete the pass.

Thanks,

Darrell Covert

You might contact Danny Kellermeyer. He ued to race in the TCC and I know he used to use a 3:73 gear in his Vettes. This year he is racing in the WHRRI in Michigan. Here is the contact info:
http://djrace.com/contact.html . He is a retired GM employee with extensive Corvette race experience.

Thanks Wayne!

Since the posiunit is broken, I thought I would take advantage of this.

L'tl Blu' should be one hell of a TTS car when back on the track.

I purchased a 3.73 diff from RPM Transmissions with a C6Z fluid pump that I routed through a Setrab fluid cooler. I figured while it was out I would make provisions for keeping it cooler.

Thanks guys! Good thought on the cooler!

Anyone driven with 3.73 gears as compared the standard 3.42's in race conditions? We get to 147 MPH at end of straight at Firebird Main Raceway. I know were at 5000 RPM at 104 MPH in NASCAR 4 at PIR. That should be 5,400 RPM with 3.73 gears.

All good info guys! Thanks so much! It is always price vs quality right?

Rusty, remember Pete has a lot more torque and HP than I in TTR. I'm pretty much stuck with 370 RWHP. Want a little surprise for Gary in Turn 9, when I'm back.

Thanks David,
Those Getrag contacts are still useful. We still do road race rears we just do not advertise it except by word of mouth. We used to build all of the Banner Engineering diffs before they made the switch to Pontiacs a couple of years ago. Here is a couple of shots from in the back, the REM gear is for a T1 car being built and we are playing with a couple of new ideas right now. If anyone is interested please call me and we can go over some options and figure out what you need and get it built for you.
Thank you
Justin A.

like i sadi he did not like it, even with his 800 lbs of torque

i wonder what a 315 rear end gears would be like with an M12?
the ratios look good

Rusty~ I want more kick out of second gear in a slow corner, like Turn 9 at PIR, not less. So going from 3.42 to 3.73 is logical. It will require shifting into 5th on the straight and 4th between turns 8 and 9. I October it took me 4 laps to finally make a pass stick on Gary.

Still interested in you racers out there that have gone from 3.42 gear setups to 3.73. Your track experiences would be appreciated. Advantages and disadvantages (i.e. lower speed corners, additional shifts required, and such at different tracks), please.
