I use the CB-50 Tandem Pro. Mounted my headset semi-permanently in my helmet with a shortened cable to the unit which is clipped to my helmet. Don't like the DIN-style connectors. They occasionally pop out just as I'm about to impart some incredible wisdom on a student.

Here is what I use. good clear communication. think it is the same one Dean uses. You can pick out what kind of mic and headset to fit your needs. I use the full face and it is mounted inside my helmet. Was kind of messy cutting out the foam to make it fit.

I use the Chatter box mounted in my helmet for me and a seperate boom type mike for the student. I started out with the portable mikes for me and the student, but putting the mike in and out on mine became a real pain. JD

+1 I permanently mounted a headset in my helmet and bring along an extension cord. Since most instructors are using Chatterbox I just plug in to their unit rather than deal with the removable boom mics (which every instructor would hand to me with a warning about not pulling on the wires).

HJC-50 Tandem here. I use the portable mics, student gets an extension cord. I do not find them to be an issue to use. Perm mount in my helmet would be nice especially if I could recess the ear piece into the helmet a bit to relieve pressure on the ear. Multiple students days can get a little uncomfortable with the ear piece embedded in your ear. Apparently not bad enough to motivate me to work on it.

Forgot to mention. If you get this one be sure to zip tie the cord to the boom because when the student grabs the electrical cord and pulls it out of his helmet the cord will come out of the ear piece

This is exactly what I use. Zip tie the foam piece on as well. I have never knocked mine off but students seem very adept at it. I have found theirs on their seat, the back seat, and, under the driver's seat - then I zip tied it.
