Default NJMP Time Trial...I won!! (Pics/Video)

I attended a time trial on Friday with C.A.R.T. (Conneticut Auto-x and Rally Team). They run an open track forum with time trials and team relays at the end of the day. It was the first time I have done a TT with the new C6Z06. We shared the track with the Aston Martin Club (gorgeous cars).

I have to be honest that NJMP is my home track (at least since 2008), and I have done both courses a few times each, so I felt pretty comfortable with the track, compared with most who were new to NJMP.

The C6Z (with my mods at least) runs in ASP Class. I think this is similar class to ST1 or GT1 (EMRA/NASA). I am waiting for the official results to post on their website, but they had a ceremony at the end of the day in which I was given 1st place overall.

I have to be honest, there was not a lot (if any) competition in my class, but I was most happy with the time I posted (1:12). In looking at other org's it seemed like a very competitive time, so I was happy. I was running on R6's (not A6's).

Also, while the award ceremony was taking place at the end of the day, I was lucky enough to run into Frank Gonzales, who was kind enough to take some pictures (thank God he wasn't running that day).

It has been about 3-4 years since my last time trial, so I was excited with the results.

Here is a video from practice (long and youtube compression hurt the quality.

well done! I love that little track, I'll have to check your video out when I get home, 1:12's is flying. What kind of top speeds did you see?

I heard there wasn't hardly anyone at that track on Friday. I was on the Thunderbolt course the same day and we had 3 different groups, it was a mad house. One of the guys went over to Lightning and said the place was empty and that he's going over there to finish the day

I'll be @ Lightning w/PDA on 6/19 for an open track, should be LOTS of track time.

Top speeds were consistent high 140mph range, hitting 150+mph on several occasions.

It was pretty empty and we even shared the track with the Aston Martin Club (4 cars LOL). We went back and forth hour for hour. So we had nice long hour practice sessions. There were something like 30+/- cars at our event, but we didn't do run groups, just open practice sessions, so it sometimes got a little crowded, but for the most part it was not.

CART runs a great event. They run open track all day long with TT's at the end of the day and they are reasonable $$$ wise.

I was stoked with the time from what I have seen in other clubs. I have no timer, so I never really knew what I was running.

That is pretty funny. I remember that guy going off behind me...was just happy he wasn't in front of me.

What is even funnier, after reading the above thread, is that a couple of people came up to ask me about the car. I told them it had somewhere around 500rwhp and I had taken 40-50lbs off the car through exhaust mods.

It's funny how that got exagerated after I won. The organizer sent out an e-mail immediately following the event summarizing the day and thanking everyone...and they went on to state the winning car had 515whp and was heavily preppared. It's all harmless, but it was funny how I got an extra 15 hp that day by just rumors in the paddock.

you should post in that thread and 'correct' the mis-information.
