Default LG Coilovers Um Um Good - But what about torque on Ball Joint?

Last night we () installed a set of LG Coilovers on my 99FRC. To get the front transverse spring out we had to separate the lower control arm from the spindle. Everything went perfect but when it came to re-torquing the lower ball joint, the procedure has us scratching our heads. Here is what the spec says:

Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Stud Nut
1st pass - 15 lb ft
2nd pass - 210 deg
final pass - 52 lb ft

So we tried to do this. We did step 1. Then tried to do step 2 but could not get a full 210 degrees (not without far exceeding the final 52 lb ft value). We only got about 65 degrees. Then we put the torque wrench on and it quickly "clicked", meaning we already exceeded 52 lb ft.

Can anyone explain what the purpose of this 3 step procedure is and offer advice on what I should do? A final torque value of 52 seems awfully low for that nut.

C6 manual says 60ftlbs so it seems like it's in the ball park

That is odd, but I'd go to the 52ft-lb and forget about it.
