Default Which Clutch Are You Using????

It's time to replace the clutch in my 02 C5Z and I would appreciate some input as to what clutches you roadcourse guys are running. I have basically stock LS6 with a few mods the car came with when I purchased it for track duty with 51k on the odometer.

no question about it, get the SPEC stage 3 with aluminum flywheel and aluminum pressure plate and don't look back.

its about 1000 all together, and completely worth it.

here's a list of the people I know running this clutch:

oyishdog
falcon
jaymz
raftracer

Do you use LS6 master cylinder? Where in pedal travel does the SPEC 3 engage?

I homebrewed a tilton MC very similar to the tick performance setup. Danny said his/james/jody's cars didnt need them, but some do. I have no idea why my car needed it, but I had to put it in there. I wasn't getting proper clutch disengagement at high rpms.

Nice thing about my MC is that its adjustable, so I can set it wherever I please.

I think it is a 50/50 chance whether you need it or not....which sucks.

Maybe the newly designed SPEC pressure plate/diaphram spring will eliminate this, they jsut came out with some new wigit, I just haven't installed one yet, and the jury will be out until 10 are installed anyway.

Wally, James' car required one, mine did not...as I said 50/50.... Get you A## registered for Mid-Ohio, or I am bringing a ST2 car to VIR in July

I've gotta wait till the first week of July to see what my schedule's like. I can promise that if I have that weekend off I WILL be there.

That, and I've gotta get this aero nonsense sorted. I'll be giving you a call about the nose soon.

My car has a SPEC 2/3 that came in it and having the same issue at high rpm's. I may just try the Tick adjustable MC first before I replace clutch. Clutch replacement may can wait till tranny rebuild, its not slipping but rather engages with pedal barely off floorboard???

yes sir, thats what happened with mine. Get yourself that tick (PITA to install BTW, prepare for some serious cursing). Mcleod has a direct replacement unit thats much much easier to install. It will also do the trick. Up to you which you use.

Before I put the tilton in there the clutch was engaging right off of the floor.

The McLeod master cylinder has been unavailable since last year, however they are expecting that they will have stock at the end of THIS month, or at least this is what they told me 2 weeks ago when I had to order a TICK piece ( which is not as easy of an install as they lead you to believe ) The McLeod is much easier.....

I would rather remove the entire drivetrain again than do another tilton install. It gets really claustrophobic under that dash. Plus I almost dislocated my shoulder... twice.

it'd probably be better in an uncaged car FWIW.

I am using a RAM Clutch Power Grip and the Ram Adjustable Master in mine.... Have had no issues after 25K with it. Motor is right at 440RWHP and she sees 1/4 mile and a number of HPDE runs.... Good setup for the cost.... I think i got 600 in everything ... Master / Slave / Clutch / bleed line.... I "use but don't abuse" and have had 0 issues.... I Replaced my Stock one at 25k Because my master fell to the black sludge due to lack of maintenance ....

I'm using the stock master cylinder with my RPS dual friction clutch - no problems at all while pushing a fair amount of horsepower/torque around the road course. I'll be buying another one when this one eventually wears out - no sign of that though!

Fidenza kit dual disc with flywheel. Expensive. Hard to drive for about 1000 miles. But the Clutch fluid stays clear all year.
