PDA informed us that HPDE1 is full on Saturday and that is why they were looking for instructors.

Since Friday is open track day before NASA event I would expect that to have some fast cars.

had an awesome time at the track on Friday. Weather was perfect all day.

I pushed the car harder then ever before and was still able to drive home in one piece. Top speed on the straight was 149 on one lap but I mostly averaged 145.

I think I'm begining to tame this heat monster. Coolant and oil temps were in check all day. Didn't have to do any cool down laps or take it easy what so ever. Its a great feeling to be able to drive as hard as you feel comfortable and not worry about temps.

Saw maybe 10 or more vette's there, I know some of them are on the forums, maybe they just don't come in the RR section much...

Sweet!! Sounds like you've got the car debugged!! That's a great feeling on a FI project. I've got 2 more FI installs to finish up and then I can get on to this Vette. I'm having a HECK of a time just finding wheels at a reasonable cost. Ive got 2 stacks of tires but ZERO track wheels!! Looking for 4 18x10/10.5's if you know of any....condition not important.

You don't by chance have any video from the past weekend?

Don

Its getting there Don...

I'm running stock wheels with street tires so I don't have any leads on wheels but if you keep an eye on the HPDE parts thread they do come up from time to time. CCW's seem to be the wheel of choice with the fast guys but some also run 4 Z06 rear wheels on all four corners. The latter should be easier to find and cheaper.

I've got some videos I'll post up in a few...

you'll appreicate this one, its me chasing an M3 around

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WV3ojBm02Q

and here are a couple more. I had passengers in the car for these two so I was taking it a little easy.

my camera battery died on me a little after lunch time so I wasn't able to get any of the 'good' sessions when I started to get comfortable.

After reviewing the videos though I can see quite a few places where I was coasting but should have been on the gas.

Yeah, I have CCW's but their too wide for the Hoosiers I get cheap(275-35-18's). So I'm looking for an alternative 18", 10-10.5 rim for all 4.

Nice smooth driving on those video's bud. You didn't happen to see a 99 FRC, black, number 127(Ithink) there did you? That's Brad(argonaut)testing out his new LG C/O's. He lost a power steering hose.

I remember atleast two other C5's, one of them was black and the other I think was a darker blue, but I don't recall the numbers on either. Lots and lots of C6's though. Sucks about that PS hose...

I was on Lightning on Thursday, in the rain . I was on Thunderbolt Sunday doing about 120 when the power steering hose let go, lots of smoke but no damage.

All I can say is WOW! Thats fast. My last session on Thurs (with Shattenbaum PC), when it finally dried out a bit, I was doing about 125 there.

Default Pda /lightning

I was at Lightning with PDA for the open track on friday. I got a lot of track time and was driving a silver C6 Z06 with a carbon fiber splitter and wing. I had fun challenging some of the NASA racers in the unlimited class. There was a factory competition red viper that I had fun with. We were running times of 1:11.1 to 1:12.5 and top speeds between 153 to 156 mph on the front straight. I corded 2 tires that day ,fortunately I had brought spares with me.

^ yeah I remember your car, you FLEW past me on the inside before the long straight.
I had a heck of a time 'trying' to keep up with you but got stuck in traffic.
I've got that in one of the vids I posted above.

what all is done to your car?
