Default 2.0 Mile Road Course-Starke, FL

Does anyone know if the needed improvements ever made to have a safe event there? Any feedback from anyone that has run the track as it is/was?

Ask Jim Pantes. He probably knows the most.

Not much

http://www.gorally.com/erssite/

Looks like they are using the track for more PROFITABLE events

"Usage includes: vehicle testing facility, stunt training, movie production, commercial filming and much more. ‘Extreme Conditions Test Facility’-Polaris. Movie stunts and stunt driving for: ‘The Italian Job’, ‘Bourne Supremacy’, ‘The Matrix’, ‘Dukes of Hazzard’, ‘Stealth’, and ‘Lord of the Rings’?

and at $3,000 / day

I seem to remember where someone had mentioned they were going to move the diving wall after the esses back some and get better crash protection at the leading edge of the walls.. never heard anything again..

wish it would make the improvements..

I don't remember a lot of race scenes in Lord of the rings. There were some horses running around though. Whatever pays I guess.

Here is a video (VIO cam with TrackVision overlay) of me driving a '08 ACR Viper on that course:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImzKOsK6vzM

Its not very quick... More like a test track. The grip level was also very low when I drove it as it was very green (though it wasn't abrasive on tires either), but that could have changed with more use.

And I don't wanna hear any crap about my driving :P I was extremely rusty and didn't realize how badly I was placing the car (mile-long hood, and all that).

Jeez...5 seconds into that video was enough for me to know I'll never run there. The exposed walls are rediculous at the .5, .51 and 1:08 mark.

Gee, and Ivor was telling me before the pavement was layed that they had a commitment from NASA to run a couple of events a year there.

The price is just way too high for the local Corvette Club to rent it for NCCC autocrossing. Gainesville is a much better deal for low speed events.

IIRC NASA SE said NO. Walls too close, not enough run off room in certain areas, Trees too close iin other areas.

I do not know about NASA FL, but my guess is the same. Walls are right on the out side of the track and not safe.

rental fees Too High? that is one of the least expensive tracks to rent not that one wants to go there.

I spoke to Ivor about two weeks ago regarding their rennovations and it seems they'll have the issues corrected soon, most notably the closeness of the walls and lack of run off. Here's hoping we have another track options.
