Default WTB: Used 17" Race Rubber

I am looking for some used race rubber, R-comp or full slicks, for my track car. I have 17x10 and 17x11 wheels, so I am looking for anything that will fit those wheels. My car has no real body, so fitment isn't an issue other than the basic size of the wheel. I only do open track days, so I am more than happy with tires that have seen some heat cycles. I am currently running on used Hoosier R6's in 275/40/17 and 315/35/17. They seem to work very well, but I have corded one of the fronts.

I live in the Metro Detroit area, but I will be driving through Chicago to Wisconsin next weekend. Pick up would be great if possible.

Please let me know what you have available.

Thanks
Ken

I recently finished off a set of the Grand Am Cup 275/40R17's from
http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html...&subcat_id=181

They're OK once warmed up. They're not as grippy as an R6 - I found them to be a whisker slower than NT-01's.

The ones I got looked like they'd been used for about two laps after having been shaved - they were in very good shape:

$70 each is pretty good for a fun tire.

Damn - I almost want to buy them just for the photo op. Those white letters are the bomb.

Heh.

Actually it was a mistake to get them mounted with the letters on the outside. Because if you drive on the
public streets, those letters spell "WRITE ME A TICKET!".

So I had to do those occasional little test-n-tune sessions late at night, and creeping out of Reno-Fernley
to get gas at sane prices was all traumatic.

I may be interested, but I am really looking for some less expensive used tires first. I'll let you know in a few days.

As for the Grand Am tires, how do you guys think a 275 will fit on an 11" rim?

Thanks
Ken

Anybody with some used scrubs laying around? For just open track work, I would really like something less expensive than new.

Thanks
Ken

I've got (2) 295/35/17 Hoosier A6's that I can sell. They have been stored inside in garbage bags since I pulled them off the wheels last Nov. They were bought new last July so they should be still good. I will pull them out of the bags and check the life left on them for ya. Probly get them listed for sale tonight. If I'm not mistaken they have 52 autox runs on them. So should have pretty good life left. I usually get right around 100 runs out of a tire.

I have 4 R6's 315/35-17's I use on the same wheels you have in SCCA t1 racing. 2 heat cycles qualifying only. $125 each plus shipping.

Jerry,
I am going to look at some tires this evening after work. If those aren't what I am looking for, I will give you a call.

Thanks
Ken
