VIR Full - Open lapping/test & tune w/no traffic (FEELER)
Background:
Last year some friends of mine rented out VIR Full with the intention of throwing together a very stress free open track / test & tune day. The number of entries were limited so that drivers would essentially never see traffic. Since there was such a large variety of cars we split into two groups. Sub 2:20 and over 2:20.
The result:
We had one hell of a good time. It was like having the track to yourself! There were 10+ minute periods when I didn’t even SEE another car around me. It was a blast. Very stress free for trying new lines or just messing around with your setup. Towards the end of the day we put both groups together and there was still zero traffic.
Lets do it again!
My friends and I are thinking about renting full course again in mid-late September. There's a hefty down payment so we wanted to be sure we could gather enough interest. So, if your more of an advanced level driver, this would be a great opportunity to unwind. I guarantee you will have a blast. If your a novice or intermediate driver we should be able to get you some in car instruction as well.
Roughly speaking, pricing will be around $200~$300 for the day. Keep in mind the amount of track time your getting.
If this is something you may be interested in doing or have any questions. Please reply to this post. As time progresses I will add more details.

I'll keep you posted.
You came to the last one? Do you remember seeing a blue 335i covered in tape? That was me Is that "gargle mayonnaise" quote from Jack Black?
David, send them on over to this post. I'm going to call my buddy tomorrow to get the wheels turning on this event.
My best guess would be closer to the end of Sept.

Count me in for at least one day and probably 2. PCA is doing a VIR on the 10th of Sept, so later in the mo would be good for me - weekdays (preferably) or weekends.

I am checking on dates and pricing...
I put this event on earlier this year and have received RAVE reviews from the attendees. The rates for "peak season" are higher than the feb event we did earlier. This would likely mean slightly more cars or a slightly higher rate.
For Those of you who attended the "Extreme Speed Motorsports Wings and Dings" event can attest to how fun it was and how much RIDICULOUSLY open track there was!
let me check on dates/pricing and I'll let you know!
spazegun/Russ? Remember me, you almost bought my old M3, but then bought that wicked corvette!

FYI, the event is geared towards Intermediate+/Advanced level drivers only. We have available professional instructors/driving coaches, but because of the open passing(with a point) and agressive driving/speeds most of the drivers will be doing, it is not a noob friendly event.
This past event we had a fairly novice driver who somehow snuck in and wound up totally his car!

getting instructors sint so much the issue, the problem is a few things....
1) it's a not for profit event so we basically only allow enough cars to sign up to break even.
2) adding a bunch of "free" instructors add's to the pool of drivers while not adding to the track costs.
last year we had Chuck Hawks with Revoltution Driver Enhancement, and Peter Krause onsite doing advanced level coaching for $50/session
Which was a steal for what they can offer!
We may be able to add a few instructors if needed, but I really want it to be a different sort of event than a standard HPDE.
I hope we can pull it off again this year, if not we'll be doing another late Feb event for sure.

How many days are you planning to do? Hard to justify a 12 hour drive for one day. Also, I wouldn't be overly concerned about having a bunch of cars on the track especially if you can carve them up in two groups like you mentioned. I've been to small private events before and I've found that you can get pretty bored without having a few guys to run with. That's part of the fun. Also, if you have enough track time typically everyone is not on the track at the same time anyway. Hope you can pull it off. Sounds interesting.
