Default A Arm bushings pushed out a note to all

dont unbolt your upper a arm if the bushing is popped out to the side a little bit, it sure makes for fun to get the bolts all lined back up again

So dont unbolt the upper a arms unless ready to replace the bushings

I just used some high temp brake grease in those little green packages that you buy at the local auto store.

Works great.

I've got the car up on the lift as we speak in pieces. Putting in a 416 forged motor and converting over to a RPM A4 tranny with C6 Z06 differential set-up.

Got a bunch of suspension upgrades and re-wiring to do too. I converted my coupe to hardtop with a widebody kit from ACP.

Got a ways to go before finishing project.

After

I pulled the "A" arms off the car. The top front bushings come out using a vice some WD-40 or the like and twist them off.

I used a ball joint press and some lubricant to press out the other bushings.

I greased everything up and used a vice to press them in.

I haven't done the Zert fittings yet. Some guys have cut groves in the bushings but I see no need to that with the zert fittings.

On the uppers I the mounts on the skinny side of the bushing and then pressed the bushings out with a bearing press I borrowed from Advance Auto parts.

For the others, I cut one end of the bushing flush with the control arm and down to the metal sleeve. Then used the bearing press to push the bushings through.

The first one sucked, then it gets easier.

Wish I thought about zerk fittings...oops.

so it is possible to get it all done with the loaner tool from advanced auto and not use a actual big machine press?

if so that makes things alot easier

Even more fun if you have a stud kit. That is *exactly* what made me suck it up and put poly in all the control arms...

Yep. I forgot to mention lubing the bushing as you cut them...this is more important if you use a hand powered hack saw. WD-40 or your favorite 3-in-1/Marvel oil works. I quickly gravitated to my precision sawsall with a metal blade- much faster, but you need to stay awake while cutting.

I did a camber kit at the same time which included a stud kit (Hardbar), I had no issues at all with that part of the install other than the car handled like a shopping cart with a spinning front wheel until I got it aligned. It was so bad I thought I must have screwed something up. This is also a great time to go to hardened studs since you will be in there anyway...these too are a no brainer. Watch the DRM video, it really is that easy.

Don't know if it matters, my car is a C5 Z.

Save yourself a lot of time and forget about cutting anything. Just lube up the bushing and push it out with the ball joint press.

It takes about 5 minutes each, mainly to set it up each time.

ok so just got a message from vbp since the lube wasnt included supposedly the bushings self lube themselves is what they said.

If i want to i can put some on myself. I dont think i feel comfortable installing them without any grease. anyone else had these claims before about vbp not needing any grease??

Don't know if they changed but mine came with grease. Just pick up some high temp green lube that thet use on brakes at the local auto shop.

You'll need a vice to install the new bushings, they are split in half and push in from each side. The biggest PIA is getting the washers on and off the bottom control arms.
