Default Bob mayer takes v8 stockcar road atlanta class

Bob Mayer took the V8 StockCar series V8 GT-2 class wins on Saturday and Sunday at Road Atlanta with Ed Lewis coming home second both days. Mayer ran solidly with the overall leaders coming home 5th overall on Saturday. Both Mayer and Lewis finished on the lead lap with the much higher horsepower V8 GT-1's and SPO's. Lewis ran his fastest laps ever at RA, and had Mayer ever slipped would have been there to pounce but, Rapid Robert ran to near perfection.

Rob Leopard finished third in our new class in his STO type C5, with
William Wade fourth in a Ferrari 360 Challenge Car.

Bill Riddell won V8 GT-1 both days in his Tommy Riggins built Trans Am
type Falcon. Front runner Dave Machavern crashed in 12 on Saturday when a tire blew coming down the hill. Fast Guy Scott Murphy led overall for a while Saturday before succumbing to motor problems in his TA Corvette.

Lee Arnold took double wins in the SPO stockcars with Tony Amico and Greg Walker taking the V8 GTA wins.

Former T1 Corvette racer Tres Childs brought his new GTA stockcar and ran well improving every session.

" Rapid Robert ran to near perfection" Translates to nothing broke.

Larry, Tony ran your old car for test day, but did not race. The car looks great and Tony should be plenty fast for the NASA race next mon th at RA.

Hey Bob, Remember the ARRC......

The V8 StockCar group will be at Daytona August 8 & 9 running with Central Florida Region SCCA. Then Sebring Sept 5 & 6 also with CFR SCCA.
October 10 & 11 at the SARRC Invitational Challenge with Bucc. Region SCCA
November 6 & 7 at the ARRC at Road Atlanta with Atlanta Region SCCA

Our V8 GT-2 class is for STO types, ex World Challenge, SCCA T1 and GT-2 and Koni Challenge GS cars. We think there is potential for great growth and competition for this group.

No cost to participate in this point series other than your normal sanctioning body entry fees. (ie SCCA, PBOC).

for more info on participating check out www.v8stockcar.com

After reading the heading of this thread again, it got me to thinking.

It has "Bob Mayer" and "Stockcar" in the same sentence. That's got to be the biggest oxymoron I've ever heard or read.

Hell, Bob has never had anything stock.

At one time he was in T1 with a "reasonably stock" vette and a Ferrari as I recall.

Chris, why not take about 400# out of that Vette, quit fightin' in that
"car of the year" class and come out an play with us.

That thing would be bad in STO trim.

Us? Us who?

TCC? NASA? V8 stockcar?

If you're with the V8 Stocker guys, what can I do to the car to make it competitive? Web site?

Believe me, I'm about one more "competitive as classed" remark away from jumping the SCCA ship and putting coilovers, a wing, big brakes, etc on it. I guess their idea of competitive is 2 seconds off the pace. The whole SCCA CRB really just needs to be broken up and started all over again with some common sense.

With V8 StockCar in the new V8 GT-2 class.

The upper prep range would be SCCA STO, so I believe your car would fit in nicely with coilovers, splitter, bigger brakes, wing, headers, and weight reduction. As fast as you're are in T1 trim, prepped like that it would fly.

Other cars legal, Koni Challenge GS, SCCA GT2, SCCA T1, NASA ST2, ST2 plus (up to STO level) some TCC cars, some Panoz GT's.

Ten weekends, Daytona, Sebring, Road Atlanta, Roebling, VIR, PBIR.
some twice.

YOUR SIX BEST RACES PLUS DOUBLE POINTS AT THE ARRC TOWARDS CHAMPIONSHIP.

WITH TWO RACES PER WEEKEND FOR ALL BUT THE ARRC YOU COULD CONCEIVABLY WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP RUNNING THREE WEEKENDS PLUS THE ARRC.

Hoosier and Goodyear are giving tire bucks to the winners, product giveaways, nice trophys to champs plus something new for this year.

Would like to get the Corvette vendors/suppliers involved and grow this into a pro quality class without the cost. It can be done.

AGAIN........NO COST TO THE COMPETITORS!

CHECK OUT www.v8stockcar.com on the message board.
