Hoosier Sidewall Deflection Picture

Wow what an awesome picture. Where did you get that?
I don't see how you guys get away with 26f and 23r cold pressures. I ran near 30psi cold in June and wore the writing off the sidewall on my 295/35/17 R6's (but that was on a 9.5" wheel). What you said earlier coupled with this picture really makes a wider wheel seem like a much better choice.

you need camber I am no where near wearing into the writing, not even close. This was with -2.7 up front, stock bushings.
I have run different pressures in the A6 and cold, low/mid 20's seems to be the fastest. high 20's, maybe 30 hot if you are really cooking 'em. btw the car was dead stable, never would have dreamed all that was (is) going on!
Also they were sticker tires, so they have absolutely huge grip out of the box. I suspect they wouldn't try to tear themselves away from the bead like that after several heat cycles. New, it's like a 3,100 lb cat cornering on carpet

Some of the w2w racers here run Hoosier A6s at LESS THAN 20 PSI for qualifying and sprint races.
Hoosier recommends up around 40 psi hot.
Up until my last event I ran my Hoosier R6s with cold pressures around 34-35 psi front and 33-34 rear and they would end up about 40-41 front and 38 rear at the end of a session.
With -2.6 camber up front and -1.5 in the rear, the tires wore completely smooth across the entire tread.
At NJMP I had a brand new set of R6s, and I tried lower cold pressures of 30/28 front/rear. Hot pressures got up to about 6 to 7 psi above cold temps. Grip was good, but I don't think it was any better than when I run higher temps.
I'm just a track rookie, so I can't push the car too hard, and my experience with R-compound tires is having run through one set (and they lasted 8 track days) and one day of hard running at NJMP on my second set. I'm just learning how to drive on the R-compounds.
As I mentioned, my first set that I ran at high pressures wore evenly all the way across the treads on all tires.
However, after one day of running on a brand new set of R6s at NJMP at the lower pressures, the outside shoulder is very worn. I'm going to have to flip the tires before I run them at another event - and I'm also going back to higher cold pressures that will give me up around 40 psi hot.
I guess if I were a w2w racer worried about every 1/10th, and I had a tire sponsor, I'd run low pressures for max stick without any regard for length of life.
However, as an HPDE guy, I need these things to last a while!!

You've got it. It's amazing how much the tires move for the fast guys. I'm lucky to get a quarter of a turn on my tires. I know I'm slow. My goal is to get the tire half way around.

I try to have my tires end up at 40 psi. I'm running 275s too, and I hope to hell that they are not doing that on the rims. I generally start at around 28 pounds with a A6 and they end up at 40.

Hey since you and Jason are snatching up all the free tires, you guys should make me your "used tire disposal person". I'd hate to see them all go to waste after just a few sessions. Think about all of the valuable space in the shop it would free up. Hell I won't even charge you a disposal fee.
