From an email sent to me:
I'm on my way back from the NASA event at Mid Ohio where Danny Popp whooped butt, even though his car's steering wheel came off while he was driving. Not once did this happen, but three times in same session. For his fast lap it apperntly only came off down the straight so he didn't loose much time! "

One and the same. Ran that car when that Popp kid was wet behind the ears and couldn't drive
Just got home from the NCCC National Convention in Colorado and have been getting calls about the GRM article. Picking up my mail tomorrow and looking forward to seeing it.

Hi Brian,
Doing pretty good for a sextagenarian. Had overall FTD for the standing start Hi speed event at PPIR. Due to some logistical issues they ran the group III cars with a flying start. Aaron Quine had that FTD.
At the risk of serious thread drift, that was the 50th Anniversary NCCC Convention and there was a lot of work done getting historic pictures.
Saw Danny's dad Herb in one of them.

This is not exactly correct. It did happen to him but not in his own car, it may have been in mine , after he had some technical difficulties with his.
It was a great weekend even though I spent most of it working on my car. In Fridays practice the left front wheel bearing decided to part into two pieces, no turning no braking, luckily it was in the slowest part of the track. Then spent Friday and Saturday sorting out ill handling car and a terrible set of brakes.
Finally I took Danny's advice and put his brakes and steering wheel on my car. With a lot of set up help and parts from Danny the car was actully fun to drive. There were no other cars in ST1 so on Sunday I took everyones advice and bumped up to SU and finished 2nd. There is a lot more to go into, but short on time right now.
Danny did great in TT with what he had to drive ( I will let him tell his own story ), and Todd R. did very well also.
Danny I want to thank you again for all the help and parts, also to Jeremy for always being there to lend a hand. This weekend is just now starting to really cost something, lots to do to the car.
