Default Big Crash in Sonoma Practice

SONOMA, Calif. (Aug. 22) -- Driver Will Power of Team Penske broke two vertebrae in his lower back and sustained a concussion Saturday after crashing into Nelson Philippe of Conquest Racing during a practice session for the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma.

How the heck did the guy doing the T-boning rather than the guy being T-boned get the worst of that hit?

Just a guess on my part as you really can't see the point of impact with no camera view on that side, but it appears when Power made contact, he spun Philippe's car (blocking track) and it deflected, whereas Power clearly made direct head on impact so the jolt to his body could have been more extreme.

Whatever the reason, I hope they both suffer no long term effect and recover quickly.

Talk about the absolute worst spot to be stuck out on the track...hope everyone has a speedy recovery.
