Default product to remove brake dust from painted calipers/wheels?

I forget now--what are people using to get the hot brake stuff off the red painted calipers? I have some backed on my track wheels too but reluctant to try brake cleaner on painted surfaces.

Will anything else work?

Simple Green works for me. Don't get the brake cleaner on the stock calipers it will make the paint soft.
