Where to rent a track day car?
Anyone know where I can rent a track day car in Michigan?
Our event is coming up and the car will not be done. Been too busy and need something to drive.
I am not an aggressive driver, usually drive around at 6/10's or 7/10's.
I always run in Intermediate unless I'm on tires.
A Miata, Solstice, Sky...Mustang, C6...I see they rent all of these cars not around here.
I've even seen shops rent out a track day cars but not sure if anyone around here does.
Just looking for something to go out and have some fun in, nothing too serious.
I'll be Grattan this Friday.
Thanks

Hertz - not joking.
I'm old enough to remember when we rented GT350s to use as parts cars for the race car.
Life was a lot simpler back then. Hertz is still the best deal around for track days.

I tried Hertz...they can't tell me where I can rent one, just that I can rent one.
DTW doesn't have them....still checking.
I also emailed the guy with NASA...sure I'll find something out there.
Thanks

I know Hertz has them down here in Florida.
Here's a picture of one behind my DSOM C6Z at Daytona last fall:
There are actually 2 of the Hertz ZHZ Vettes in the picture below - the one in the foreground and one way in the back against the wall:
So.....I don't know if you can get one up north, but if you come down to one of the HPDEs at Daytona this fall (Oct 23-24, or Dec 4-6) you can Rent-a-Vette for the track down here!!

Thanks for the NASA reference.
I got all setup with a track car.
2005 Mustang GT w/ Roush Stage III suspension setup all sorted out, StopTech brakes, street tires to get me to the track and Hoosier Cups for the track day itself.
$300 for the day which is a killer deal considering the setup of the car.
For that kind of money why own a car?
For the 5-6 events I do a summer far cheaper to rent one than own one.

Yeah it is!
I'm actually pretty excited to be going now.
He originally quoted me 500-600 for the weekend but I told him just 1 day is what I needed, pick up Thurs and drop off Sat morning.
I believe he undershot the price a bit but it sounds like something that is going to be extremely fun to drive and the best part is its a sorted out car with all the right stuff on it.
He told me I could get a Challenge Mustang the FR500S for $500 for the day, splitting that between two people is a deal too.
Even if I wanted to I would have started off in this car to see how I like it, then try moving into the FR500 maybe in October.

I did not talk to him about damage.
Sure anything can happen but I went into detail on what kind of day we run and all that. I even told him to call the track owner for a referral and I'm sure he's doing that between today and Thursday when I pick it up.
I would assume either A. there is some kind of insurance he has on the vehicle and I'd be responsible for a deductible of some kind or B I'm responsible for the damage.
Damage off track, car accident, or something like that should be covered under my own insurance policy.
In my case I carry my own policy as the event coordinator, will have to check and see if that covers another persons car besides my own.

I have a lot of time on the track in a new mustang. Thats a smoking deal. You will have a lot of fun with it, not as light or as powerful as a vette but its a stiff chassis, very stable and predictable. Real easy to drive.
