Default SPOILER - Petit Le Mans race thread

I've started this thread for people who want to discuss on-going race action/events. Please post to this thread so that race info isn't inadvertantly revealed to those who are recording and plan to watch it later

TIA

So nobody is watching the race?

Bad day for the LGM #28, they were too late for the recon laps (no reason given) and had to start from pitlane. Then early into the race it went into a sand trap and tore off half of the front splitter. Currently it runs 8th in class, 9 laps down to the GT2 leader.

On the bright side, the C6.Rs have been running 1st and 3rd with the #45 911 sandwitched between them

I am watching. My heart goes out to Lou. Just some bad luck.

The factory team is doing well, although now 3rd and 4th. Im sure they can et back up front. They were 1st and 2nd for a long time.

Yeah, bummer for LG and crew. Who was driving during the off?

Some pretty good racing between the Lizards and the #3 Vette for a while.

Sutherland just got into the LG car.

I think Sutherland drove the 1st stint and had the off. Drissi had the fastest racelap for the #28 (lap #87) w/o half the front splitter

No beef here, I'm in the same boat. I was rooting for them to pass the Vette last race too, man that was a good ending.

RED FLAG...

Anybody familiar with RA? How long does it take to get rid of standing water after it stops raining? I have visions of that Daytona 24hr a few years ago with hours and hours of FCY.

the ground is so saturated in this area from the last 2 weeks of rain, you could take a leak in the bushes and start a flash flood.

there is a river in the esses during normal rains, with the additional run-off and saturated ground, it must be like a class 4 rapids today.

I watched the start, but have been working in my shop most of the afternoon. just came up from it, and it's POURING outside, and lots of lightning. radar doesn't look good...

They need to drive with a squeegee on the front. I watch for either Lou or Bill Auberlen(amazing with a BMW). Right now it's a previous race to kill time.

at 8pm EST they wll decide to continue or call the race. One of the C6.RGT's went hard into the gravel trap right before the red flag, putting them a lap down.

What a day. Mud everywhere.
At least the rain was light early on.
Talked to Lou before the start. I'll let him explain it.
Got to see quite a few people in the corral.
And the Petfon tent was right next door!
Can't wait for 2010

Hi guys,

Well to start with, the starting Driver somehow missed the radio order to NOT come into pit lane on the recon lap and came in anyway. He did not get out before the 5 minute time clock so they shut the pit out and he got stuck starting from the Pit lane instead of the outside pole.

Then on the second lap, he went off in turn 10 and tore off half of the front splitter and all the brake duct and high beam light.

The car that was capable of sitting on the outside pole was now a wounded puppy.

Tom Sutherland went off one more time in the rain and we had to get the mud out of the radiator before continuing.

At any rate, car that put down the qualifying time that put us in front of both factory Corvettes was so compromised that it was a clear uphill struggle.

So the first 10 laps determined the outcome for us in the Petit Le Mans.

Let me know if I can answer any questions.

Thanks

Lou G
