Default Best Non-HANS head and neck restraint?

What do most of you instructors use while in the passengers seat?

I like my 3R. Don't need harnesses to get some benefit.

I have the Hutchins Hybrid which I feel is quite a bit safer than a Hans, I listed it for sale not long ago due to not having a car to run until next year, missed this season completely, etc...NIB.

I have the Hybrid Pro, love it. Easy to get in and out with, and easy to wear.

I also use the R3 because you can use it with a 3 point stock system and still get protection. JD Note: as John said, prayer is always a good thing.

I wear a HANS in my car, but just a karting neck ring when instructing in a student's car, as well as a clean pair of Depends.

Can the Hybrid Pro Rage be used with an OEM 3 point belt like the R3?

This certainly is interesting. You can use the R3 with the stock 3 point belts and if you have a race seat that can use the stock belts you will still be safe? I'm wading through the many options and this one is new to me.

I realize it depends on what type of racing you want to do, in my case at this point it's HPDE's.

I just spoke to a sales rep at Safety Solutions and they told me that the R3 is the only device that can be used independently of a harness belt.

FWIW, I used the D-cell several years ago and never again. Very uncomfortable and couldn't move my head enough to see much of anything.

Without starting a pissing contest over which is best!! I really like the R3 and have been using it for 3 years. The best part for me is that it affords protection when in a students car with a 3 point harness. There test show it is equal the Hans with the use of the harness. If you look at the top drag racers, many of them are wearing the R3 or the Pro version of it. Just my .02 JD

I am just a DE guy but I wear a R3. I was very thankful that I had it on when I hit a tire wall sideways. I did have a 6point harness on and not the OEM belt. Its' because the R3 is secured to your body that it will work with a OEM belt.
