ST2 vs T1 Shootout....
If we can make this happen at a Mid Ohio NASA event would you come? Maybe July.
What would it take to make the cars semi even?
Either run T1 trim(better hp/lb) or ST2 Trim but we will be racing each other, maybe everyone toss in $10 and get a Championship Cup that get the names engraved.
We could have an overall winner and a T1 or ST2 each place gets points
ie
1st 100 pts
2nd 90pts
3rd 85 pts
say we have 5 T1 cars and 6 ST2 cars top 5 T1 cars get pts and top 5 ST2 cars gets points the "team" with the most points wins.
Now those running in T1 trim would need to "officially" run in ST1 but we would keep track of our results separate.
I would be willing to work it from a ST2 side but I would need a T1 representative to help out and police the T1 rules.
We could race both days and do points from both days and declare one Champion and one Team Championship or we could also race one day and TT the next and do points from one or both.
Thoughts? Support?

I think you'd have to do too much to make them equal...if that really matters in this case. The T1 guys (Vettes) don't have wings, big brakes, coilovers, aluminum flywheels, etc, etc, etc. The Viper has all those things except the aero and would be better (as Dave proved a year or so ago).

Just a thought to maybe have some fun and drink some beers.

Oh, I thought you were talking about loading up the T1 to meet ST2 weight standards.
If you just want to "run whatcha brung" kinda thing, that would be a hoot.

I'd say run what you brung pinks all out style... oh wait, wrong racing.
But seriously, ST2 cars run to their rules and T1 cars run to theirs and see what happens. Its possible the vette's may get a brake upgrade this year so that would make it even more interesting. Would be cool to see what would happen.

The problem with classifying cars with primarily weight/HP creates even more disparity at the amateur level. Somebody who wants to ante up for 4-way shocks, adjustable brake bias systems, Bosch/MoTec, etc really has an advantage as it really doesn't affect the given ratio.
It does however let a lot more people run and have fun, and that seems to be the forgotten aspect in SCCA right now.
Not only are we not getting paid for this, but we are indeed paying to play. The only sport where payment down should guarantee aggravation is golf!

I am in for this... if the car runs as ST2 legal they will be required to be ST2 legal. if they are T1 they should be T1 legal.
Hmmm sounds like a good time and I will be there. Now where did I put my ST2 cast iron muffler?
