Default Another DIY brake duct

X-posting to get input from the RR folks that don't visit the C6Z section

I really like what Katech has done with thier splitter and undertray with brake ducts.

However, I already have an OEM ZR1 splitter and didn't want to chuck it. Instead I wanted to create some sort of brake duct option that would allow me to remove the air dam but still get lots of air to the brakes.

So here's what I cooked up after a quick trip to Home Depot. Based on the fan and leaf blower tests it seems to push a lot more air to the spindle ducts but I realize this is far from scientific. The good news is that it's about $10 worth of parts and 15 minutes work.

I'm curious to get thoughts from you guys and if it's worthwhile I'll do a write-up (although it's pretty easy to tell what I did from the pictures).

I tried two different mounting configurations (one further forward than the other) but think I'll go with what I posted.

Even at stock ride height I scrape the radiator supports going up and down small inclines... they'd be gone in seconds for me. :-(

Given the less than enthusiastic response I'm looking at other options and may just go with the in the grill method.

It would be cool if one of the vendors would make a duct that fits in the OEM ZR1 splitter opening for the folks that have the GM piece (not to mention the actual ZR1's out there). There are already screw holes above the splitter openings.

Maybe those pieces would hook up if you cut off the brake duct and hooked it to the openings in the ZR1 splitter. JD
