Default Thank you Corvette Racing

Thanks to all of the Corvette team for your hospitality, to our little group of four from San Diego, in the garage on Saturday. A special thanks to Dan Binks for the special souvenirs for Chadd. Chadd just arrived back from Iraq on Thursday. We took him to Monterey as a welcome home treat. Dan presented him with two leftover decals from this year's LeMans car; a number 63 and a Jake (the ones on the racecar are different than the ones you can buy). Also, all of the drivers, crew chiefs, and Doug Fehan signed a yellow Corvette Racing cap for Chadd.

From our point of view a truly class organization.

Awesome group of guys and they went over the top with Chadd. Hard to believe what some are saying on the forum about that team.

I think guys on the forum like Lou G., who is (sort of) like one of us (but much faster), and wish he got better support from Chev, not that they have anything personal against the guys on the factory team.

Of course, I think it reasonable that any factory team should get a few things the rest of us cannot, but the gold standard in sports car racing is Porsche and their factory supports privateers well, I understand. If anyone knows more about that, I'd like to hear it.

At any rate, I believe it is in GM's best interest in so many ways to have as many folks racing Corvettes as possible, so any help GM can give to good privateers like Lou makes sense. Reputation is so much a part of selling cars, and the more Vettes are on podiums the more respect they will garner as serious street cars, too.

The team is a class act, the drivers are a class act. The drivers are competitors. That is what a RACER is suppose to be. Hat's of the Jan and the entire Corvette Racing Team!

Since the Government and the taxpayers own most of GM I say GM should start supporting ALL Corvette teams .

Check out this site. Corvette race cars are available.

http://www.corvette-motorsport.com/

You can also buy a Pratt & Miller C6R GT2.

Keep in mind that Porsche racers need to buy their cars as well. If you want to buy a Vette race car you can. I'm thinking that Flying Gecko is not a "factory" team. Why should Chevy give Lou anything? Lou can't be on the factory team as he is presumably American, they already have Johnny O'. They want a wide range of nationalities for global marketing via LeMans. Corvette racing is advertising. They are getting their money's worth with two cars. Lou's car is advertising for his own product. He can already buy the same car the factory has.

He's got a great car, he just needs the shoes. GM makes that phone call to michelin for him to get the tires, it'll be a whole new ball game. Like Michael Jordan said, It's all about the shoes. Ed

Agreed, I don't think Lou is asking for a handout, just a level playing field.

Why would he? Riley was supposed to be the official supplier of GT2 corvettes. P&M was not selling "official" GT2 cars at that time, and GM decided to get into GT2 racing during the finacial fiasco.

Can we not turn this into an LGM vs GM pissing contest.

Those that like Corvette Racing do and those that don't, don't.
Go start a new thread, I hate GM and Corvette Racing.
Then feel free to bash the hell out of GM.

The conspiracy stuff is getting old.
