Thanks to our vets on the track-junky forum!
Mods, I realize OT is technically the right place for this topic, but we've got a lot of vets that cruise around here.
I started to post to the ones that I know of, but rapidly realized that I had no chance of remembering them all.
So, to everyone here that is serving or has served, thanks. I'm humbled by your service, integrity, and sacrifice.
Also, remember our folks down the road at Ft. Hood; I expect today's going to be more somber than past years.
Have a good one,
Mike

As a Navy vet, I want to send a Bravo Zulu to the citizens of Bangor, Me., who have been welcoming home returning US soldiers since the 1st Gulf war in 1991

I take more pride in my time spent in the navy as a sub sailor than anything I've ever done.
Thanks to all you other vets!

I won't say it makes it all worthwhile, but it does mean alot when people recognize the contributions of our service men and women.

Thank you to all the Vets everywhere. Where would we be without you.
To my dear brother Stewart (West Point '69) stay well
And to my son Mitch who is in week three of Marine Boot Camp, San Diego.... you now know what move your lazy butt means.
I'm very proud of you.

My old ride had 108,000+ horsepower
On a funny note, when I left, I was the only person in the history of the ship to cause a high torque shutdown when I was trying to get a little more speed than they said I could.
EDIT: For those gearheads who might wonder. The torque limit that I hit was 1,875,500 ft/lbs PER SHAFT

Just an FYI, my grandfather, who served for 40 months in the pacific in WWII, passed away early this morning, soon after veterans day, after a 6 month battle with colon cancer. He was 91. mentally sharp as a tack right up to the end.
He was a bronze star and purple heart recipient during his time in the pacific.
He was a car guy, and had ridden in the Z06 not that long ago! He was disapointed that the speedo went to 200, but that the car would only do a buck seventy five.
It will be a tough funeral, as he will be missed. He was very involved in all 5 grandkids life, and all 13 great grandkids.
There is something special about that generation!

I served at a time right after Vietnam and never saw active duty and I always considered it an honor . For those who have been deployed I have always said and still say a prayer every day . Thank you seems small at times but it is meant with respect and is heartfelt . Bless you .

Sorry for your loss. Your grandfather served 44 months in hell. Like most vets, he probably did not talk about the war. But believe me, the Pacific Campaign was horrible, along with all the combat fronts of any war. I'm sure he was a great man and that he will be missed.
