Gas only good for 2 weeks now???
Tried getting the old mower going one last time in order to mow the leafs.
Could get it to keep running. Putting some gas down the carb go it to run for about 15seconds then it up an dies. Got some new gas, drained the old stuff out, same thing. So I'm thinking the carb needs rebuilding. I head down for a rebuild kit and the store's telling me that thanks to the alcohol in the gas it only stays good for 2 weeks now unless you throw some stabilizer in it, and that the carb is probably all gummed up.
15 years with the same mower, never had to before, I guess I will now though.
Needless to say I though some stabilizer in the Corvette's tank this morning.

No drysump yet 35 years it has been worked summer and winter. So 200 dollar rebuild isn't out of line. I can't find the hot rod camshaft exchange program and I don't have 3 weeks to have my ground down. They make lifts in the .650 range
So stock it will be I did tell my wife that the head maybe junk

My old Sears mower was doing that a few years ago... had to get the carb done a few times..
The Husqvarnish thing I have now has sat outside in PA winters for 5 years now and never had a problem...

Ethanol
Thank our government for cramming ethanol down our throats. That whole pie in the sky theme is a bunch of BS. Look for all your weed eaters, boats, and classic cars to take a crap from this stuff.
We'll see how long it takes to eat up our modern cars too. Think we will get a rebate on repairs?
Wait,,,,,, is this a road racing lawn mower?

no, but I figured you might want to know since the same engine might be in your track support gen set.
It may also effect the carb on your vette if so equipped.
I lot of us are putting our cars away for the winter.
Like I said, I just puts some fuel stabilizer in mine

You can get non-ethanol gas. The gas station up the road sells it. I run it in my John Deere and Vette. I have tested it and it's good stuff.
2.89 a gallon for 92.

Edit: They have allowances for selling non ethanol gas after the deadline for boats, lawn equipment, and classic cars. The problem will be the regular gas stations will not install extra tanks and police these sales so the regular fuel will become VERY hard to find and VERY expensive.

alot of small engines have been doing poorly on E-10. Marine repair and small engine shops are full with ethanol related problems. I can find 100% gas at times. My new routine is to use up storage gas much quicker, run small engines dry and empty the tanks if possible. In summer I use alot of gas in offroad equiptment - I label gas cans when the gas has ethanol , so I use it first. I dont follow the politics of the corn/ ethanol story, but I'd like to see the additive get out of fuel and back to feeding livestock.
