Default Nitto R555R2, NT01 or Hoosier R6?

It's about time to put new rubber on my C5Z06 street/track car - again! I've been running the Nitto R555R2 and have been pretty happy with them. I'm considering staying with them or trying the Nitto NT01 or the Hoosier R6 this time around. I was wondering if any of your guys have any experience that you care to share about these tires. Oh BTW, driving the car in the rain is not an issue.
Thanks.
Bill

NT01 or 555RII if you want more use out of them and less cost.

R6 if you want the couple xtra seconds on laptimes.

I really liked the RIIs but last season I ran the R6s. Great tire but they wear too fast IMO. I cant tell you about the 01s but heard they are comparable to the RIIs.

For DE's, I think the Nittos are great tires and probably the best value.

I've used both the NT01 and RII and like them both. Between the two I'd take the 01s but frankly for me it comes down to dollars - I go with whichever I find cheapest. They are very comparable, the 01s seem to have a little more grip and remain consistent a little longer into a good session.

Pirelli Corsa Semi Slick would be my choice. It shaved 2 seconds off the NT-01 and 4 seconds off the stock run craps on my car and it is a smoother tire on the roads.

haven't ran the R2s, but I have ran 01's and R6s....I like the 01's better. The R6s are crap IMO, not confidence inspiring at all, and thats not what you want out of your track tire (or any tire!)

Hey Bill, your gonna need more stick with that new engine and running with those SJCC guys! I would get Kumhos, R's or A's they seem to last longer and stick gooooooooood! Come over sometime I'll show you my stack of Hoosiers that have corded. You'll have to find another source for tires though, it seems as Mikey and COH have parted ways. chuck (silver black stripe C6 coupe)

If you're driving the tires on the street much (at all) I'd take the Hoosiers off the list of potentials... you said street/track car so just wanted to mention that. Plus make sure you can tolerate the alignment required.

I about to do the same thing. Just bought 4 c5z fronts (thanks Jason) and I'm going to put 275/40/17s on them. I am running at stock c5z alignment specs. Will this be ok for 01's or RII's?

From doing alot of searching it seems like the 01's are slightly more expensive but you can rotate them side to side (and front to rear with a square setup).

What would be the optimal camber for a stock C5Z with NT01s?

if you keep your toe fairly tame, you can run a bit more camber if you need to run them on the street, etc.

lots of neg camber and toe out up front, will eat the insides alive in no time on the street.

The 555r2 are full tread. The NT01's are only half.

What kind of life are you guys seeing out of the 01? I may look into those while I'm doing HPDE's.

Hey Chuck,
Thanks. I think we finally got the engine sorted out. Fired it up and drove about 120 street miles on it last Saturday. No more SQUEAL! The problem seems to have been a main bearing. Going to run TWS this weekend to find out for sure.
