Default Better late than never...NASA March VIR ST2 in-car video

I got somewhat bored the other night and started uploading videos on to the computer.....

These 3 are from the March NASA event @ VIR.....they are actually labeled wrong on this, this is the Sunday Thunder race Not Saturday ( Sat was really, really wet )

James Forbis allowed me to take his car to VIR and run it, Thanks James.......

Unfortunately we were forced (by time) to run a stock radiator in the car for the weekend and it played a role in my aggression after several laps went by..... Played Tortoise and Hare for a bunch of laps with a big power SU car, but had to relinquish the lead to recover engine temperatures and win the tires....

Enjoy....

Best lap on the video was a 2:01.xxx, I ran a 1:59.6xx in TT right before this. Lap times early were compromised by defending all of the corner entries of the SU car which hurt entry and mid-corner speeds....

The track was green on this day as it had just dried out from the previous 2 days of rain.

Thanks ...it was a fun weekend once the rain cleared. Re-wrote all of the ST2 and TTS records.

7200 rev-limit 3380 lbs and 380rwhp at that event.

This was before our 2009 renovations and running in 2008 configuration.....It's louder now...

Wow, that was some fantastic vids; thanks for sharing! That's a great vid of racecraft; wonder what that STU driver was thinking when you passed him in traffic.

Thanks again, and have a good one,
Mike

Danny,
That's what we ran in T1 last April. I don't know what his car looks like and what mods he's made. Do you mind listing a few mods that his car has? Aero? Coilovers? Lexan? Drivetrain mods (flywheel, clutch, etc)??

I'm contemplating moving up to STO/ST1 and wondered about how much speed comes with any particular mod (that's set up well of course).

Thanks!

Chris, that car is quite modified. It has lots of Aero, but T1 has a nearly 10% power/weight advantage (doing quick math). I think a well sorted ST2 car like this would have an advantage over a T1 legal car in general, although most ST2 cars aren't nearly as trick as this one.

My car only needs 320 rwhp for ST2, since it's pretty light.

While it would be hard to get your T1 car to the ST1 limit, your driving would put you competitive IMHO. As you can see in this video, most of the high HP cars don't stop/turn nearly as well as a well driven Vette.

It's really funny (and often pointless) comparing lap times. We ran similar times the only time World Challenge ran at VIR, but we had more HP, some of the aero (no louvered hoods allowed back then), yet ran on T1S Street tires (not RA1's, but actual street tires). Trying to launch out of 4 or 12 was a joke in my Vette.
