Default Nasa weekend @ BIR in May 2010

Just when I thought life couldn't get much better. I found this...
http://www.tcstangs.com/forum/showthread.php?t=95241

The track is about 1.5 hours from my house and our shop! If anyone needs a place to stay on Thrusday and/or Friday night please let me know. I can maybe even get my buddy with a limo to drive us back down for Saturday night also. But it may make more sence just to stay up by the track in cabin country.

Looking foward to the weekend!!!

Randy
PS -8 degrees today

Here is the thread from the NASA forums
http://www.nasaforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=31475
So does that mean that DRM is going to make it's NASA debut in 2010?
We'll see you up there.

That is the idea. I may have to get my butt to a comp school more south before the BIR race weekend. One of these days I have to sign up for NASA and get the ball rolling. Janurary 5th I have to go to the doc anyways, I'm bring the sheet for them to fill out. Bought a Hans for myself for a early X-mas present. Just need some socks, center window net and some ***** to go flat out in 2 again.

I'm getting faster everytime out. Would like to run with some faster guys with the same type of power (Geff, Ken, and all the other boys.) This driving around thing is getting old pretty quick for me.

This is what I needed to get my projects on the car done!!!

Just come to NorCal... unless things have changed all you do is sign up for HPDE4 (with a race prepped car, drivers gear, etc) and ask for a check ride to get your novice permit. Since you've run some races with the other organization it should be a breeze for them to put you in HPDE4 and you to turn some laps to show you're safe out there.

Plus, it's 45F here today. It got down to 29F the other night. Brr. ;-) Is your -8 F or C? :-) :-)

Randy - We need to figure out what I need to get my car ready for a NASA event. I'm looking into getting my license over the winter.

You can run time trials and the HPDE part of the weekend as is. Cage, fire system and some window nets and you are ready for the W2W side of it. ST1 or STU would be the class that your car would fit into very nicely.

I love doing new tracks but Lime Rock, NHIS, Mosport, the Glen, Road Atlanta, CMP, VIR, AutoBahn all all tracks on my want to race that are closer. I can see making one event one day but it won't be a regular stop for sure, now if I could fly in and drive your car

Randy,
First off -8... seriously? thats farking cold... sure its going to be warm enough in may to thaw you all out?

As for the track, Sounds like a blast! but, thats WAY too far for the likes of my cheap *** to drive out there. So I'll just cheer you on watching the video when you post But, Mid Ohio looks like it could be fun next year... ehh ehhhhhh?

Well Geff will be up there hopefully you're nice enough to show us a good line around the place.
Looking forward to a new place to play this year, plus I've always wanted to get up to BIR.

You can drive my car anytime, I'm not. So that maybe a bit tricky.
2010 plans
BIR
Mid ohio
Autobahn

Maybe Blackhawk in addition to or sub out one of the other events.

Then if I'm fast, heading to Utah. If I'm not fast go out ice racing for the 2010-2011 winter.

It was -12 at 8AM today.

I'm not ice racing this year so it's cold as crap.

Last 5 years it's been pretty nice.

Randy
MID OHIO should be a good time!!!

I already offered about 8 hours of video to Geff. Here is a video of the line plus or minus about 10 feet Going up on the banking, some run flat out and a wider line. I'm a bit early on the long banked right hander and into the following corner. But this will give you the idea.

I will for sure do this event. To drive in the Time Trial portion of it do you need any special license or is all the stuff I have done with Suburban Corvettes good enough? This event should be awesome at BIR!!!
