New track car from Riley shown at PRI show
It has a Cronin built dry sump LS and is 2300 pounds, Penske/Hyperco coilovers. It was 5 seconds quicker than the next quicker car at VIR! Only $198K!

Cool suit, look at the blue foam covered lines coming out of it. Likely in the front for wieght distrubution.
Side point -- It's about time we see a serious car utulizing Alcon calipers. All this talk of Stoptechs, Brembos and such and many seem to forget how good Alcons are.

That was my point... 198 large is alot for something that might be a big pile of carbon fiber and tubing if you screw up.
I think they have missed the boat on this one.. It's a nice car for sure but how many potential buyers do they have? How many guys would be interested if it was half the cost? probably 10 times the amount of guys @ 200k. Probably 10 times more if the car was 50k.
Someone needs to create a car like this for about 50k. There would be a waiting list to get one.. Probably a spec series to race them in as well.

anyone with $198K for a non race car toy can afford to roll it into a ball and (hopefully) walk away

The problem is that there are very few people that can spend 198k on a track car. Think limited market...
I know who Bob Riley is.. If those cars (or something similiar) were selling for 50k ALOT more people would know who Bob Riley is..(or whoever builds a car like this)
I bet his cost basis on this project is under 100k. It could be lower by using "cheaper" parts. Ex: Do you really need a carbon body on a track car? Fiberglass probably adds 75lbs or so and is about half the cost. Does it need Alcon brakes? probably not.. It's 2300 lbs... a cheap pair of Stoptech or Brembo's would do the job fine. It's not like someone is going to race THIS car in a 24 hour endouro.

It certainly had me drooling. I do not think any Corvette still worthy of being legitimately called a "Corvette" could come close to this car at any price. It is like hot rodding an F-4 Phantom all you want and still a Raptor will win. I think the bigger question is what are you going to do with it even if you had the money? Winning by 5 seconds a lap is not much more fun than losing by 5 seconds a lap unless it was a grudge match against someone that you did not like.

I would probably be a buyer for this car if I did not already own my current car. I am just a working guy, and I definitely can't afford to ball up the Mosler, but I still try to go to the track with it whenever I can. As I started down the mod road with my car, it became more and more like a track-only car, but it is just streetable enough that I can drive it to Saturday morning Cars and Coffee. If I would have known the path I was going to take with the modifications, I might have considered the Riley TDC.
By the way, if the TDC sold for $50K, it would not be nearly as fast/capable. Speed costs.

Oh yea, I forgot to mention that the optional engine is a Dinan BMW V-10. Thinking of the old adage: "If you have to ask, you can't afford it", I did not ask how much more that would be.

Very cool car. I'm with Jaymz that it seems an odd and exceedingly small niche market. Do they sell it as a "track day car" just because they didn't build it into any specific race series? I mean - from what I can see, it's a race car just looking for a home.
Looks like lots of fun.

One market we built it for, is the guy that owns a Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc., that wants to play at the track, but not risk a car that expensive to repair. The TDC has a modular chassis, you can replace the front, rear, or side crush structures in case of a shunt. Hubs, steering rack, and other items are from a Corvette to lower maintenance costs.
That car at PRI won't be on display Saturday, because it has a race to go to. It gets raced quite a bit around Florida...just not beaten
