WTB: Tow Vehicle.... a Newer Duramax/allison clubcab 2500 4X4 no Duals
My father just had his 2001 stolen from his driveway..then burned to the ground. He said he is having a hard time locating one and might buy new.
Anyone have a lower milage used one for sale??

When you say newer, do you mean the LMM (2007-1/2 - 2010) or the LBZ (2006-2007-1/2)?

Not sure if MPG matters, but the LBZ is worth 1.5mpg or more over the mid 07+ model. I have an 06 LBZ and get 18-20mpg DD'n it hand calc'd every tank.

I looked at the last gen and the current trucks, wanted a dually so I have no limits on hauling stuff through the mountains and winds I live in(stability). New trucks were nuts, most of the older ones even in SRW had very high mileage or jacked up, highly modified and thus of questionable long term reliability.
So I looked at new but the truck I wanted was $56k! Ouch!!!
I found a local 07.5 LB, CC, Dually, "4WD" loaded truck, perfect color, perfect condition, superbly maintained with 52k very easy miles on it for $36k and got a great trade on my Tundra(which in many ways is a better truck than some die hard GM fans may want to even consider) so now I have a very nice big truck that looks, smells, drives like brand new for a lot le$$
But, it is harder on fuel than the older model though I have the Banks 6-gun/IQ, intake, exhaust, etc... on it, it will put me back in the seat and spin the tires for 100 ft though (Note, I run the economy mode nearly always
Biggest improvement was a $300 set of Bilsteins, it handles and rides dramatically better now.
Anyway, if you can find a great older truck for the right deal then I most highly recommend it, if not the newer truck is pretty nice, dually is certainly more capable of towing well if you tow a big load like we are preparing to do.
If I see a great deal come up here I will let you know but they are hard to come by even in Utah were they are all over the road.
