Default Brake Duct Kit and Heat Shield Questions

Along with many other items, I am looking to buy a brake duct kit in the near future for my 02 z06.

What do you prefer?

-ECS kit http://www.eastcoastsupercharging.co...uct%20Kit.html

- DRM kit with a universal spindle kit http://www.dougrippie.com/

- Or the Quantum setup http://store.quantummotorsports.com/...products_id=72

*With the 02 z06, do I need the addition plastic duct that is included in the DRM and ECS kit, or does the hose just hook directly up to the little stub that is stock? The quantum kit seems as though it hooks up to the stock stub.

Also, Quantum offers a tie rod end and ball joint heat shield. I plan on wrapping them individually, but like the idea of having a fixed shield to help in case the wrapping gets messed up a bit and exposes some of the boot.

What do you all think?

Thanks,
Andy

I'm no expert on the systems but I have a 2002 Z06 as well and am about to buy a kit. I have done some research and the Quantum Race kit seems to be the best value and the easiest to install of all the major kits.

You WILL need the DRM duct kit, or you can buy the Quantum C6Z ducts if you are willing to modify them slightly to make them work on a C5Z. Quantum does not make a C5Z duct.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the advice, the info I am finding suggests the same. What are you going to do? I have read a few places that the hose sizes between the quantum and DRM kits vary, any insight on this?

Wish I could help. The guys at Quantum said their C6Z ducts are easily modifiable and cost about 1/4 of the DRM kit, but it does require some DIY work. As far as I'm concerned if you have to work to get the DRM kit to mate to the Quantum kit then might as well buy the Quantum ducts and spend the time modifying those instead, while saving yourself about $150.

Also, is there anyone who has experience with both kits? It seems to me that the quantum kit has a more direct air feed, whereas the DRM/ECS kit feed more air. Opinions? The DRM kit also seems to have a slightly better duct fit, but not as nice of a spindle fit.

If anybody is interested I have a set of used DRM ducts but no hoses or spindle hardware. I'm not going to use them $30.00 shipped to the lower 48 states. SOLD to Ms Eliz
