Default C4 Cage Prep/Diet

Cage is going in next month, so I need to know what to start removing. It is just an HPDE car right now, so I am really only looking to remove the heavier stuff that is not too hard to get to. I can worry about small things later.

Anybody have a list of things or know what is actually worth removing in a C4?

I don't know about a C4 but my C6 ended up being completely stripped out including the dash.
Photos of the project can be found at :

A good buddy of mine just stripped his car out and is doing the same thing.

Congrats also on a wise decision

Everything you can. Seats, carpet, heater box, door pads-side windows, speakers, radio.

When you are done with that, start looking at other things to shed, like cruise control crap, airpumps, all things to do with AC. The list goes on and on and on

Should I install race seats before or after the cage goes in?

I would use them for mock up.

Search some of my threads. I've got just about everything out of there now. The carpet weights a lot! There is a sticky thread in C4 gen with some weights.

Yeah definitely install the seat where you want it, then with your helmet on, position the main hoop to clear your head and allow the seat to be where you want it.

+1!!!!! Get that seat now and let your builder know about future plans like HANS use can change the vertical position of the harness bar and or those little retaining bars on harness bars if you use those can change the lateral position if you use hans. The cage should be built around the seat and where you put it in the car. Plans for SCCA or NASSA TT or racing will change what's legal for your cage. Just to be safe I would pick a likely SCCA class for your car and build the cage to those specs. If your cage passes SCCA or NASA you are good for anyone else you will run with for the most part. If you plan for enduros in the future that can change how you mount your seat to your cage/car.
