Default MOSPORT (Apex Driving Training Inc.) - Anybody run with them?

I am looking to go to Mosport this summer. They seem to have lots of dates at Mosport. Are they any good?

http://www.apexdriving.ca/safety.html

If anyone has any other suggestions on groups that run Mosport, I am open. Open track would be preferred, but I have no problem fitting into the standard HDPE groups either.

For Mosport, top of the list has got to be a "Dexter day":

http://www.dexterautosport.com/

Howard Dexter has been running these since the late 1980's. 7 hours of open track a day. You'll get tired of driving.

Mosport is the King Daddy of North American tracks. Really.

I have run with them once. Three run groups the day I was there so lots of track time. Well organized. Lunch used to be, and I still believe, is included in the price. Lots of Porsches and Audis (organized by Pfaff Motors which is a Porsche-Audi dealership). There were at least 8-9 Vettes that day.

True, helmets are optional which will raise a lot of eyebrows. I chose to run with mine on except for the few times when I had an instructor with me for orientation laps. If you wear one, he must also and they don't have communicators which means you have a really hard time understanding them.

That event prompted me to buy my own pair of helmet communicators. Problem solved.

There are quite a few members in the Canadian section of the forum that have done multiple events with them so you may want to check that section.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!! I am going to head up for one of their Aug dates. I figure you can't go wrong with the weather in Aug! Hope to catch up with some of you...be on the look out for a yellow C6Z with the Pheonix sticker on the back!

Excellent! We'll be easy to spot...all the Vettes are usually parked in the lower paddock near our trailers.

Do you ever make it to the Glen?

I usually go to the Glen every other year. I went last year, so I don't see myself going this year. I want to go to tracks I have never been to before. Usually, I hang out in the NE, but it's going to be quality not quantity this time.

I have always heard so much about Mosport that I figure after 9 years it's time to cross it off the list.

Matt let me know when you are going and I will see if my schedule fits. I would love to try this track out.

The Genesse Valley Chapter of the BMW CCA will have a driving school at Mosport on July 26th/27th. It will not be an open track event but you will probably get at least 4 25 minute sessions per day.

Great mix of cars, and well run events ... hope to see you guys out this year!

If you have any questions about where to stay ... fun roads to get up to Mosport from the outskirts, etc. ... just send us a PM!

You're going to love Mosport!

Mark

Some classic Mosport vids .... first one shows the track under construction back 1960 (yes, Mosport is celebrating it's 50th Birthday this year! )

CanAm Race ... Notice the complete lack of walls! Fans just sitting feet from the track on the grass ... ah, the good ol' days!

Can-Am must have been amazing to see live. The cars were faster than Formula 1 cars of the day.

Some suggested viewing before your trip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNavoYNMltY

The LG Motorsports site also has some killer videos of Lou tearing it up in his WC car...
