Default Race Wheels

Anyone know a good source for reasonably priced race wheels? Looking for 18x12 with something like 8-3/4" back space. I'm to the point where I would like to have some narrow aluminum wheels widened. Anyone know where I can get this done? I have lots of 9", and 10.5" wheels that I would like to convert.

I have managed to destroy 7 of my 8 CCW classics and I think they are just too fragile for hard core racing. I gave my last good wheel to my team mate and I am looking for another solution.

Let me know what is available... And I'm not going to spend 3K for wheels.

Someone on here as a link to some used BBS wheels. If I find it I'll let you know and post it here.

magnesium one piece with single center lock hub. 8-9 large EACH is a close guess.

Found some simular wheels, but aluminum and 6 lug at $4400 each. Clicky here
Street Rim - Not for use on a race track.

BBS wheels New and Used at Bob Woodman Tires

http://www.bobwoodmantires.com/bwtrims.php

"Bob Woodman Tires carries a large selection of both new and used aluminum rim halves and magnesium centers along with the wheel parts needed for custom building of race wheels to your specifications. We also buy new and used three piece racing wheels. All of our new and used rim halves and centers are carefully inspected for trueness. Please call and speak with one of our wheel specialists for your racing wheel needs.'

'NOTE: We DO NOT stock parts for RS wheels and do not know of anyone who does. RS wheels are STREET wheels and were not intended to be serviced. BBS did not produce any replacement parts for these wheels."

Do not be confused, Street BBS wheels and racing BBS are TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF WHEELS.

Does "destroy" mean break? I broke a center section.

I have one piece wheels widened by Weldcraft, but I never used them for track use. I never got a full confirmation either way from any of the aluminum welding experts that they are good for hard track use. Anyone have some engineering backup on the subject?

What does the BBS 3 piece weigh compared to a CCW classic? How do they differ in price?

18 X 11 22.7 lb.
18 X 13 23.4 lb.

(for the 3 piece with E28 magnesium centers, the new E88 forged aluminum centers are even lighter due to machining "scallops" on the sides of the spokes)

My CCWs are 10 years old now. I've never had an issue with them.

That may be an oxymoron

But the CCW Classic Track would be the lightest that CCW makes.

or BBS with magnesium centers are very light but expensive.

Everett, those look sweet

They should be around $1500 each

Update:

CCW C10 18x13 = 24.3lbs
CCW Classic 18x12 = 21.6lbs
BBS E28 18x13 = 23.4lbs
BBS E88 18x12 = 19.4lbs (magnesium center)

Thanks Tom. I originally tried to get some CCW Classics from John, and after one conversation I never heard from him again despite several attempts to email him with the wheel specs I needed, which is why I am now test fitting BBSs. Once we get the fitment, they will then build me a set of wheels with the new E88 aluminum centers - they are the state of the art in wheels right now and are both stronger and lighter than the BBS magnesium centers.

E88 is not magnesium center, it is the brand new forged and then machined aluminum center.

Aah, okey!

I agree, those are sweet looking!

You have a more exact price each? I've seen them priced around 1300-1500, am I right?

Thanks! The E28s are about 1450, and the E88s are about 1550 I believe.

For another weight comparison, my OZ forged 3 piece 18X10 weighs 26 lbs - I think it's pretty impressive that the BBS 18X13 weighs almost 3 lbs less while being 3 inches wider.

Default Cost per Pound!

Hard to accept paying an extra $900 - $1000 per wheel for a pound per wheel.
