Default NASA & Yokohama A005 Contingency

http://www.nasaproracing.com/forms/2...claim_form.pdf

5+ starters in class = 1st is 3 free tires
12+ starters in class = 1st is 3 free tires, 2nd is 2 free tires

300/650R18 might be worth experimenting with. It's a full slick.

Since its a slick its a 30 point tire or -.75 wt/pwr ratio correct? How does it compare to a goodyear or hoosier slick?

http://www2.yokohama-online.com/ru/f...motorsport.pdf -- the PDF lists more sizes, and different sizes, than I found at http://www.yokohamatire.com/tires/spec.aspx?tire=A005

.75, yes.. and its better than a hoosier cause you can win 6 of them instead of 2..

i'd imagine .75 is a decent trade off.

When I emailed my local guy about using the A005 on my RX7 but not finding a good size, his response was simple: The Hoosier radial slicks are faster anyway!

I guess if everyone else is running a A/R6 you might be in good shape.

The Hoosier radial slick is an actual slick, like the A005. Not a DOT-R like the A6/R6. I believe Aaron has been running the Hoosier radial slick on his C6Z ST1 car.

Aaron was running the Hoosier R80's on his car at Nationals, and depending on what you are doing they aren't much faster than a set of sticker A6's. (TT vs W2W)
The R80's would be better for one of the long 45 min races compaired to an A6, but if you are doing TT I would still stick with the A6 and save the .75 But that's just me.
I believe Aaron tested them and would have better feedback.

Thanks Yokohama!!! Way back when, we raced on them and they were faster then anything else. But also the slowest tire if you didn't prep them right.

I was just informed by a fellow racer that he spoke directly with Troy and the contingency program is said to be ONLY for the Miller Motorsports Nationals.

This makes NO SENSE to me as the form is definitely based on REGIONAL races, it talks about races per weekend, and I think there would generally be more than 5 starters in each class at the Nationals.

Something is fishy.

Randy
