Default Any value in adding NOS for C5Z for autocross?

It seems like a cost effective way to get very brief bursts of substantial power while leaving the rest of the engine intact. How quickly and predictably is the extra power available?
This would be in addition to A6 tires and some suspension mods.
Any comments?

The only thing you can inject in autocross(SCCA) is water and NOS is specifically disallowed.

And it wouldn't be very useful anyway

Our Association specifically prohibits the use of NOS during timed runs. A NOS tank can be in the car, but the entrant has to show that the tanks has been disabled during runs.

A C5Z does NOT need more power for AX.

don't bother. in addition, if you ever want to do roadcourse events, you will have to disconnect or even remove your NO2 system before your car is allowed on the track.

I apprciate that NOS does not fit in with the rules.
Independently of that and only for curiosity's sake, can anyone tell me how progressive or sudden the change in power is when NOS system comes on (at full throttle)?

You should ask that question in the drag racing section.

NOS comes on hard and quick from my experience. I have a 125 shot wet system (577 rwhp / 586 rwtq. After arming the system it is set to come on above 3500 rpm and WOT only. I also run DE's but have to remove the tanks, etc for those. NOS is for playing on the street and drags.

Thanks for your helpful input. I've been curious but not familiar with NOS.

Open road racers use it.

The trouble with Nitrous is that it come on all @ once.

Which is one of the reasons it was banned.

I believe that some WW2 fighters used Nitrous for "war emergencies" at full throttle only and for short periods of time. I believe that it was also an on / off arrangement.

When you drive, do you roll your right foot to the floor, or just drop a brick on the accelerator?

a reference you don't hear often these days

germans pioneered the system for high altitude perfomance (to compensate for thinner air). Nothing like a turbocharged or a supercharged BMW V12 motor with a nitrous button!

allies installed NO2 systems on some Mustangs as well

A little kid at the track once asked me, "You got NOS in that thing?"

Me: "No...why?"

Little Kid: "You wanna win...don't ya?"

I think he had just finished watching The Fast and The Furious. So, my answer to this post is...only add NOS if you wanna win.

I haven't been here too long but this is actually the first time I have seen a NAWZ thread in the RR section.

Contact forum member drivinhard to see how it works. He secretly uses the giggle juice on road course events. It was good for 2.7 seconds between back to back sessions this weekend!
