Default Portable Air Compressors

Wondering if a portable compressor like the Porter Cable 6 gal. Pancake Air Compressor would allow for a few pressure changes?

Do most tracks (specifically Summit Point and VIR) have AC power available to recharge the tank?

yes they do have AC power, but they also have air compressors on site for tire pressure changes... you really don't need to bring your own.

some times huge lines at them. Small 12v battery powered compressor will do the job adjusting but a bit slow.

I have a small 12v Campbell-Hausfeld pump that I plug into the cig lighter. Takes about 3 minutes to add 5psi to an inflated tire.

Some battery jumper packs will also have a small air compressor and they will work too. I also carry a 7 gallon air tank that charges to 125psi.

If you really want to go a little insane you can purchase an eletric air compressor from Air Zenith and pipe it into a 5 gal tank. 165psi - 200 psi takes 40 seconds. I use 2 of them on my air bagged truck.

those portable 12v chargers do the job, and I have one, BUT they tend to pump a lot of moisture as well.

VIR charges for AC power, but you can use it occasionally without anyone noticing. If it's worth the hassle/cost, the one to reference should be fine. Filling tires is easy.

Hey, I just got a Harbor Freight flyer (Sunday's paper) with a coupon to get a 3-gallon, 100psi air compressor for $39.99. It is a small, squatty compressor like above, but a bit smaller.

If you have a harbor freight in your area, I can mail you the coupon if interested. It's good until 3/13/2010
