Parts store rotors

NAPA, on line-Rock Auto. If you can get the ones made in Canada, they are the better of the oem's. The ones made in China meet spec, but I've read that they meet spec by making the fin area wider, thus meeting the width spec measurement, but the face material is actually thinner.

The OEM 13" base F weigh at 19# as do the ones made in China.
The OEM is 1.265" wide vs. 1.270".
The OEM face material is .295" vs. .315".
The OEM fin width is .665" vs. .635".
Unlike the OEM the import rotor is actually directionally finned and designed with a L & R part number.
I have put three track days (using XP10 pads) on a set of rotors plus a few autox days and am just now seeing spider-webbing after my last event at Willow Springs where I got in 120 miles in 1.5 hours on track. Prior track days were are Laguna Seca -- not known for being easy on brakes. I have over 5 hours on these rotors and purchased them with the idea that at this price they are a consumable like pads -- only cheaper.
But, YMMV.

Here's an article I just finished on brake rotors for Corvette Fever magazine. It's on my site now. Most of the rotors being sold in this country are from China. Some companies are really cutting corners. You actuall have to measure and weigh rotors to see which ones are any good.

not all two piece rotors are lighter than the OEM Corvette rotor. It is also easier for a 2 piece rotor to expand and contract with less stress because of the shape,

NAPA till seems the best choice.
I am near a whse. store and so the stock gets cycled like mad.
Picked up my first C5 fronts, a few months ago . Made in USA.
Went by after the the rain hit at Road ATL and picked up two '94 rear discs. Made in USA! Asked to see the C5... Chinese. Passed.
Timing seems to be the key. They have three suppliers and what they have is ... well .... what they have at any given point in time.
If I run into a couple sets [ they keep 4 sets in inventory] I will buy them and put up a post.

Thanks for the post. I will be watching my NAPA rotors closer in the future. Last rotors I bought there in October the box was stamped made in USA. The ones I bought last April were Chinese. Hard to keep up, but I will be measuring a tad closer now.

That's not what I have found on the ones I use. I just went out and measured the $22 ea. Aimco's (that have gone up a lot) that I bought eight of and should have bought more. I use one set for track and the other for street and change pads accordingly to avoid bedding.

For C5s not for C6s. The C6s have rotors that are directionally finned for one side of the car and they use them on both sides. Doesn't seem to make that much difference. On my C6Z the first rotor to crack was one of the ones on the side that had the fins going the correct way.
