Default Does anyone run strait water?

I'm going to be flushing my system soon and wanted to know if anyone ran track days with strait water in their systems? I ran strait water in my dirt racing days used with an additive from Schaeffer's called clean & cool. Is there any reason not to run strait water?

I usually do with the exception of a bottle of Water Wetter, or 1.5 or 2 depending on the vehicles cooling system capacity.

I'm switching to just water (with water wetter) for my HPDE car. I've read too many threads about cars wrecking on spilled coolant.

Is there an easy process for winter? Sucks to have to buy coolant for it to sit all winter.

unless you get to colder temps as we see in the NE. I was at the Glen and it was 22 degrees. Even then you could run it. That was the night temp and at 7 am

Water! Anti-freeze is not allowed in the Vintage race classes that I run in.

I just drain about half the water out and put a jug of coolant in. Let it run a little to mix then its good to go. I have heard some people run like 10% coolant in the system all year and have been ok in the winter. I like taking the extra step to know the block will be ok.

My wife and I used to run water and Water Wetter in our sport bikes when we tracked them.

Something to consider--you may want to use distilled water--it's mineral free and won't result in any deposits in your cooling system.

40 Below is way better than Water Wetter. It's harder to find and twice the price, but the performance in the heat is as good as any antifreeze set-up. Most race organizations prohibit antifreeze.

I get mine out of a nearby streme. Never tried getting it from a strait.

My water's imported from the Strait of Hormuz and comes pre-oiled.

So, straight out of a streme you say?

Distilled water + 2 bottles water wetter + 1 quart anti freeze, just in case excessive use of the A/C condensor might cause an over cooling problem.

Works a treat

I thought this was bad for the water pump--not enough lubricant??

Distilled water and water wetter. Your car cools better and it is much safer for other people.
