Default Cross-drilled/Slotted or What?

What is the better... plain or slotted or drilled rotors for the track..(road course) I go 5-6 times a year. 09 C6 Z51 procharger 500rwhp

trapp

I currently run with the Z51 package rotors and HP plus pads, dot 4 with braid steal lines...and ducts.

Reason that I ask is because in Mits Evo X forum (I have a Evo X GSR 2010) the road racing guro's stated never get slotted or drilled!!.

Any input is welcome.

solid is my first choice, slotted works well also. Drilled will crack sooner, as they tend to start cracking from the holes, and you often get strange wear patterns around the holes.

AFAIK napa does not sell blanks in Z51 sizes.
HP+ pads are not supposed to be used at temps higher than 800-900. make sure you are not cooking your pads.

slotted rotors are fine for track use.

Cheap but you will go through them like candy.
I'm lucky to get a day out of them, sometimes less

Drilled will only crack faster

Buy a decent solid rotor and you will be happy

I used hps pads last year so I would think HP plus would be better....we will see..

What kind do you run Bill? I have been thinking about lighter ones. I've been using NAPA's cheapo ones and using them for four days.

Better, yes, but still not adequate for track use. In the Hawk line, you should be considering the DTC-60/DTC-70 series.

correct, but IMO a bit overkill if you are on street tires, they can lock up pretty easy, and my biggest complaint is the bits of metal, pad, etc that ruin the rims. Just an FYI, don't use these if you are fussy on the street rims, give them a sacrificial set of track rims (and sticky tires).

A lot depends on your driving style and the track, what works for me with HP+ at LRP probably won't cut it at road Atlanta.

I'm using the Hawk HT-10/DTC-30 on street tires works great.

I had forgotten the torque of the DTC pads, and you are correct in regard to street tires. You have to use some finesse with your braking style, or you will be in ABS constantly. But, once I adjusted to their feel, I liked them very much. And honestly, I have found this to be the case with most all track pads. It's a trade off either way I guess, but I prefer the added temperature capacity of the more aggressive pads. And absolutely, a lot depends on driving style and specific track demands. I think the best general rule is, use the least aggressive pad that offers the performance you want. I have found I can use a less aggressive pad with the GT3, since the speed is a bit lower, and the rear brakes add a lot of braking power.

NAPA part #s

4886700 & 1 Front
4886702 & 3 Rear

My last event, I cracked the rear on the outlap, Serious cracks in 5 places up to the hat. Lucky it did not come apart on me. Felt fine the previous session and when coming in.

I am going to be looking for alternatives.
