throw away the hawks as soon as you can, this happen all the time with their pads, one big reason I went to Carbotech.

I had the same issue with the PFCs in the rain. Trick is to remove as soon as possible after track day. I ended up using a plastic knife to scrape mine off after soaking with Armour All Wheel Cleaner. It got 99% of it off. Good Luck with it.

another good reason to have a 2nd set of track wheels that you don't care about cosmetically.

there is no chemical method I found that gets that stuff off. it's nasty.
a lot of rubbing/scraping/sanding. I imagine that media blasting will take care of that - your powdercoater may have access to it.

another idea - someone I know used oven cleaner to remove baked on brake dust. it did remove the finish from the wheels but it sounds like that would not be a concern for you.

I had this happen to my C4 AFS rims with HP plus pads...can't really do anything about it/don't care too much.
The previous owner of my CCW C5 setup had it happen to his rims and ended up using sand paper followed by super fine sand paper and polishing them when he was done.
I heard Hawk uses some particular kind of pad material that when the dust becomes wet it bonds with rims and takes off clear coats...also heard of Hawks taking off clear coats of paint behind wheel wells.
Does anyone know if Black CCW C10s would have this issue or does the shotpeened finish just hide all break dust? If it did bond to the finish and was recognizable how would you remove it? Pretty sure sand paper would not work on the black shotpeened finish.
