Default Stock power Corvettes at Texas Mile

This last weekend I ran my C5 Z06 with stock power 163mph in the standing mile. Those who said their cars were stock all ran within 1 mph of that time. Similarly, I talked with several stock C6 Z06 owners who ran 171mph....or within a mile of that. We also talked with two C5 owners who were running forced induction....one running 13lbs of boost, and one running 20lbs. Both ran in the 184.xxmph range. OK the C6 has 100hp more and runs about 7 or 8 mph faster...BUT stock 600hp Vipers were also running 171mph? It was a very fun weekend, and we met lotsa new friends, and saw lotsa neat cars............including a 1300hp Lamborghini Gallardo who spun out in 3rd gear Our car was so quiet that no one even noticed it's run

There was 3 stock C6 Z06's that broke the 175mph mark. I think the highest one was 177.3 mph. I was able to run 192.3 mph with 565 rwhp NA and my buddies '09 Viper with 590 rwhp NA ran 190.0 mph.

I think stock vipers are somewhat penalized by their weight.

Glad you had a good time - it is a fun event.

my buddy was there last weekend in his M3 coupe and managed 154.x in the mile. I was impressed for a car that only makes 333hp at the crank.

I'd love to take my z06 down there for a try, but 1800 miles each way to drive a couple of high speed mile passes seems a little crazy to me. On the other hand, my company is doing a project in San Antoina TX and we're shipping some of our fleet vehicles down there. I wonder if my z06 could 'hitch' a ride on the truck.

Funny, that happens to be just about the exact speed the computer cuts you off...

i just checked my text message from him and it says he hit a recorded 155.4 according to the timing box. then he accelerated a little further down and recorded 156.x on his GPS. the car has a tune and euro header setup.

We left for home on Sunday. We only ran on Friday and Saturday, and on those days there was some heat and relatively high wind right down the strip. My intent was to illustrate the narrow 7 or 8 mph difference between the C5 and C6, and that most of both types seem to run very close in performance.

Wow...............Was there a tailwind????

I ran 183-184 early Saturday (no wind) and then left. That was my 3rd trip to the mile, I 've never seen a stock C6 ZO6 over 172 (they were running 169-172 when I left)....173 with CAI and tune.

Maybe I should have stayed.....

Yes there was a tailwind sunday morning and there was a chill in the air. Ran 175.0 on the first run.
AtomicZ said that was the fastest he had seen a stock Z06 run at that time. I ran again 30 minutes later with the exact same time. Wind was picking up when I left. Maybe I should have stayed also!

It was great to meet you and I'm glad you had a good time. 175 in a stock Z even with a tail-wind is impressive. Running back to back 175's is very cool. The wind did shift a little in the afternoon.

The wind shifted a little in the afternoon and was still a little of a crosswind/tailwind. There was some awesome numbers being ran later in the day.
